My 12mi run today became 12.7 in 2:08. :) I felt great at the end-- definitely ready for 13.1! Temps were in the 20s, but we were mostly protected from the wind which was good. I'm not sure how I'll acclimate to the race temps. Last year it was 55 for most of the race, which was good (except for the cold drizzle at the end). I'm afraid this year it'll be more likely in the 70s.

Way to go! :thumbsup2

You are so my idol...I could only hope and dream to have a 10 min mile !:worship:

I too am thinking it will be warm for the PHM. I am somewhat happy our weather in San Antonio is similar to Orlando so I can practice my sweating :rotfl2:

Me, too! I'm in Austin, so it won't be much of a weather change to run in Florida. :)

Hang in there Sarah! Rest and chill. You have the training and can run this thing- so for the next 3 weeks just relax! Hope you feel better!

I'm also predicting warm. And no matter how warm it really is, the folks at home are going to hear that it was horridly warm so I can blame my lack of PR time on that. ;) It's really going to be blamed on the picture stops!!! I cant wait!

I'd try to get in 7-8 on the treadmill...maybe do 3-4 in two batches today? Personally I can't function in those temps, so wouldn't have a choice! Do one now then take a break and do it again when you can...
Good luck however you decide!

Being a TX gal I would say find a treadmill inside and get your body use to higher temps. If you look at Orlando temps for the next few days the lows are 50's and the high's upper 70's. Weather could change for the PHM but I will bet it is not going to be 30's. Been unusually warm in San Antonio so I hope I will be well prepared for the race.:woohoo:

A good question for other northern princesses is did you do more training inside to get use to higher temps or run outside in the cold ?

Agree with Joan's earlier post...REST ! I remember reading your posts here and believe you are sooooo prepared and a little rest will give your body a chance to rest and recover. I remember my running coach telling me lots of people get sick and injured before a big race as your body is tired. I'm just starting to get back to training after a super bad cold and it is slow with LOTS of walking but my body is doing okay after a week of rest.

Sending pixie dust and prayers your way !:goodvibes:crowded:

I live in the northeast and thought I would never be able to do longer than 4-5 miles on the treadmill. Fear of slipping on the ice kept me inside, however, and this week I did a 9-miler on the treadmill. Podcasts, music, TV,....whatever it takes to keep you going. I felt like I got into a groove around 6 miles. Hoping to get a 10-miler in outside tomorrow.... but we're expecting more snow.

Great run! 70s is going to be a shock to the system... but I'm hoping those of us from cooler climes will just enjoy soaking up all that sun and heat and gain new energy for the run.

Thanks for the advise ladies! I had to call DH at 7.5 miles to come pick me up. I was so cold and numb and in pain. Finished outside at 7.75, and went straight to the treadmill. Got to 10, then did a mostly walk with a little run to 11, and ended at about 11.25 total between outside and inside.

I know technically I had a. 10 min break between outside and inside, but I'm still counting it as 1 run. Is that cheating? :confused3

Thanks Patty. I'm trying to just lay low but I'm a mom and its hard! Plus I'm stressing and I want to go to Disneyworld NOW!!!! :rotfl:

Not cheating at all! You did it! That 10 mins may have been a bathroom break or a character picture stop. Just because it was a quick change from outside to inside doesn't mean you didn't do it! Congrats, that's a great run! ::yes::

Totally not cheating. I can't remember where I read it (probably either runner's world or The First 20 Minutes by Gretchen Reynolds), but I read that you can even have hours between parts of a long run and if it all occurs on the same day you will still make roughly the same endurance gains.

10 miles for me today in 25F weather. I did the exact same route I did last week, and my time was only a few minutes different, but I felt much better. I was really beat from traveling last week, and today was definitely a workout, but I didn't spend most of it wishing it was over. I even did a little pickup at the end, which is made easier by a big downhill at the start of the last mile (the first half is a long slow uphill). Coach says next week is long too. I did 22 miles this week, plus 2 hours on the stairmaster. I'm feeling that good peak training fatigue.

Happy training everybody. Now gimme my waiver! :surfweb:

I've done long runs like that. I've gotten up in the dark and ran 4 miles on treadmill, then as soon as it was light out got in car and went to trail for my 8. About 10-15 min break.

It felt fine and when I ran Tink I felt good! I was afraid it would be a cheat but my training time and my garmin time for Tink matched up (minus character stops!)

Time is always at a premium on weekends here so I just had to make it work! Great job- I think you were awesome!

Thank you so much everyone. I guess I just needed to whine for a bit and get it out. I'm loading up on the supplements to try to kick this thing out of me and protect me from the anti-biotics. Those things are not nice to me. :headache:

I hope all the sick and injured princesses are back on their feet soon.

We're getting so close now!

You guys are the best! :grouphug:

This is where the probiotics will come in handy. In your gut lives lots of good bacteria, they help with your immune system. Antibiotics, which are great for killing the bad stuff, also kill the good stuff too, which could actually lead to rebound illness after you finish antibiotics. Drinking kefir or taking probiotics can really help replenish the good stuff.

I'll take the 70 degrees! I live in Orlando and did a 5k this morning..it was 44 degrees and I was FREEZING in a long sleeve shirt, fleece jacket, and pants! I sure hope its not like this for the princess considering my outfit is a skirt, strappy tank and possibly arm warmers!

Did a 3 mile treadmill run for about 15:50 average. Not bad considering my trainer was wanting me to do a 16 pace. Plus the fact that this was my first post Tink run (got sick myself and have been beyond exhausted the past week).

And considering I accidentally got my run off to a way too fast start and kept messing with the speed controls before finding my zone. I realized something was wrong when at the 1.6 mark I was feeling way too tired for my supposed pace and my distance. And realized I was overdoing it on time.

I was scheduled to do 8, but I panicked and did 9 instead. I was worried because I didn't have any taper built in to my plan--was scheduled to do 10 the week before the race. Now, I'll do 10 next week and then ease off the weekend before the race.

It went well and I actually broke it up into 3 run segments, about 3 miles each. Started on the indoor track, hopped on the treadmill, then back to the track. So, nope--I don't think it's cheating either.

As for the cold, I've done almost all my training inside and as I look at the temps, I think it might be a good thing. If it stays as warm as it has been, then I'll be set. I'm certainly looking forward to a little break from New England weather!

Hope all the Princesses who are sick are feeling better soon!!

Another weather wuss here! I do all my winter running indoors (unless I'm in great weather, at WDW or visiting my dad.) I'm lucky now to have a track at the local Y I can run on, because I'd never get the long runs done on a treadmill- to much sweat with no breeze (is that tmi?) Anyway, did my 10 Monday (no sub job so I decided to get it done ASAP). Now I need to work on my costume shirt.

I hope everyone ill or injured is feeling much better!

I'm so ready to get to WDW

Got all my last minute costume stuff yesterday and was able to run about 2 miles the other day with little to no pain. So I'm pretty pleased. I get my results of my MRI on my knee thurs so here's hoping!

Good morning! I checked out the map to see the path through the parks, water stations, etc. they didn't show porta-potties. This is my second 1/2, but first Princess. Can anyone enlighten me on the most important part of the race - bathrooms? Going through liberty square can we duck into the bathroom? Yes. This is a worry for me.

There are real bathrooms in the MK just past Buzz lightyear ride to the left and in Frontierland to the left. Check a park map

That's a brilliant idea. I never thought of that!

From where I sit in Chicago, 44 would be PERFECT running weather. The northern frost fairies might melt in 70 degrees. Maybe we'll have to have summer fairies shaving ice to throw at us like in Tinkerbell Secret of the Wings to keep us cool?

I had to travel this week for work and got behind in keeping up with all of you. Just completed my catch up reading.

I hope everyone who has various injuries and illnesses is feeling better! I feel so bad for all of you. We work so hard to get to this point, and we're so close. It's a real bummer to get sick or hurt when there's only 3 weeks left!

PrincessKateNicole, you sounded so sad yesterday. I hope you go out and try your 9 miles again today. Don't give up! I'm doing 9 miles today myself. (I'm waiting until later when it warms up some and ice on the sidewalk melts.) I'll come back here when I finish and give a report. I hope to hear from you about how you did. I know you can do it.

TiggerAllie, I am so jealous of your time. It's fantastic! I can't wait to hear how you crush it in 3 weeks.

Another warm weather non-enthusiast...I sweat so much, the heat can really affect me...or so I think LOL. Last year's temps were PERFECT - 55 and overcast. But no matter what, it will be fun. If its warm, at least I know there is PLENTY of water on the race from past experience.

THREE MORE WEEKS!!!! :cool1:

Waiver please! :wave2:

Got it. But there are some on the route as well?

I had to share my run yesterday. I did 8 miles which equals to 24 laps around my yard running path. I tried out my costume and new compression tights. My DH's comment as I went out the door was now the neighbors who thought you were crazy will be sure you've lost it. Lol. Btw I'm going to be the queen of hearts.
