Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

Osborne lights yyyyyiiiiiippppppeeee!!!!:cool1:

Next question: Does anyone know if there will be Disney Photopass photogs at all the character stops?:mickeyjum

Unfortunately there will not be. Brightroom is the official race photographer. They will be taking photos at some character spots. They will not be at all of them. If you are a character fan like me, I would suggest bringing a point and shoot or a phone that takes pics.

I'm not sure about the after party. I cannot recall.

Okay, thanks! Now I just have to figure out how to carry everything:worried:!

Now that I just completed the Marine Corps Marathon last Sunday and I definitely looking forward to the Wind and Dine.

Congrats! Between the hurricane, Halloween and getting ready for this trip I'm finding it ridiculously hard to get in my mid-week runs. Did 3 last night and trying to do 5 tonight as long as I can get to the gym at a decent time. May have to suck it up and realize that I've been consistent for the past 10 weeks, so as long as I can get in a long (not too long) run this Sat, I will be fine :)

Questions for the group, how far do you usually run the Sat before the race? I've done anywhere between 6-9 depending on the training program, just curious of the mid-point. Also, training calls for runs next week, but will be in WDW as of Wed. Will do a short one on Monday but flying to WDW Wednesday, would you do the 5miles it calls for Wed or just rely on the walking around the parks for the next few days to cover you?

I am running 17-19 on Saturday but am also training for Goofy Challenge. My runs next week will be much less except for Saturday night! :) If you are walking around the parks, that should be enough before the race if you have been training consistently.

I had planned on a 10 miler this weekend, but wife decided we need to go and see the new FANTASYLAND preview at Magic Kingdom. So will just spend the day walking around the park instead... Then will rock out to Rush in concert down the street in Tampa that night. :)

So yeah, Disney two weekends in a row. And for the record I have clocked the mileage walking around Disney for a day... The numbers are obscene.

Hi!
Just in case....
I was expecting Osborne lights for the Tower of Terro 10 miler. I was (almost) devastated when I got to HWS. I actually stopped and asked spectators "no lights"? in disbelief. NO LIGHTS Beside running thru Stunt Show that was one of my most anticipated parts of the ToT. I am really hoping lights for Wine n Dine.

Anyone else disappointed with ToT?

They sell great options for this at the expo! Although it's never a good idea to do anything "new" on race day, if you don't have any other option they sell great stuff. I got a little pouch, I guess you could call it a "runner's fanny pack" last year at marathon weekend and I wear it all the time now if the pocket in my shorts/pants isn't big enough for all my stuff.
I can't recall the name of it but if they don't have that specific one they'll certainly have something!

I didn't run ToT, but since the parks are still in Halloween mode they wouldn't have the lights on. Since W&D coincides with the first weekend of the Very Merry Christmas party and Disney's transition to Christmas, the lights will (much more likely) be on...

Yes. But not because of the Osborne Lights.

The past two years, the Wine & Dine ½ was run on opening weekend of the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. It was originally scheduled that way this year as well. However, when they added the Tower of Terror 10 Miler, the bumped the Wine & Dine ½ to the closing weekend of Food & Wine. So in theory, if the ToT10M didn't happen, the lights might have been on for the W&D½. I think that they were not on for the ToT10M because it would have skewed the theme of the after party, not because the park is 'done up for Halloween'. I was at the Studios last weekend and cannot recall any Halloween themed decorations.

I didn't even think of that, thanks!:thumbsup2 I definitely plan on scouting out the goods at the expo. I have an amphipod water belt, but it turned out to be too uncomfortable. The bottle (about 12 oz?) slides in sideways in the back which is fine, but I had to cinch it down tight so it wouldn't bounce and it drives me crazy:furious:. I kept pushing it down lower on my hips but of course it won't stay there. I can do without carrying a drink since there will be so many water stops but I still want to be able to carry my phone for pictures.:goodvibes

Anyone else watching the 10 day forecast? Right now it's a low of 63 for race night. Given that temp will probably be in the wee hours of the morning and not at race time I'm a little nervous. Is 65-68 degrees in the dark hot? No. But it's not exactly what I was hoping for either. I did do some hot weather running this summer but my body has acclimated to our cooler temps this fall up here. On the other hand, we will not be freezing our butts off waiting at the start and it looks like it will be dry. :)

"Dry" has a way of being irrelevant at WDW... Especially for night races, the massive humidity will have me soaked either way.

Shhhhh. Don't say the "H" word.... I was referring to the "R" one!

And it could be 50 degrees out there with 0% anything and I'd still be soaked. I'm going to need a full change of clothes for the after party without a doubt.

Definitely keeping my eye on the forecast. I guess i will pack a variety of tops, just in case. I cannot imagine needing a long sleeve unless it gets down into the 40's. I'm dressing as Minnie Mouse. What color of top does she usually wear? I've seen black tops and white tops. Ill being with me long sleeve, short sleeve, and a tank top as well. Depending on how hot it is during the day, the asphalt can really soak up the heat and still be emitting that during the night races.

You guys are all making me laugh.:rotfl2: I must be part reptile as I think anything below 80 is freezing!:lmao: I was just up at WDW last weekend and it was breezy (thanks Sandy) but the humidity was nothing.:thumbsup2 This time of year is typically beautiful temp and humidity wise. It's supposed to hit 80 this afternoon and 70's tonight for the big Miami/VA Tech game (GO CANES!!:cheer2:), but I'll keep an eye on it for all you polar bears. Like mentioned previously, you'll have to take what I think is comfy with a grain of salt as I'm always cold:goodvibes... I'm definitely wearing a long sleeve Under Armor cold gear top (ok, ok, you can stop laughing at me now:rotfl2:) and plan on getting a "disposable" hoodie for that night for the start. :yay:

Been watching the 10 forecast too. I can't decide what to wear. My tank with sleeves was originally planned. (Planned on taking off the sleeves during the race though.) I guess I'm going to go buy a long sleeve to possibly wear. I like a light, long sleeve in the 50's. 60's and sunshine - a tank is fine. Did that yesterday. Low 60's and dark and I might be a little chilly. Oh, the last minute decisions..... :) We leave a week from today! It's almost here! :cool1:
