Another little tip for the race: get everything ready the night before!!! I cannot stress this enough. At 3:00am the brain just doesn't function properly. Well at lease mine doesn't. Last year I waited until the morning of the race to put my bib number on and put my timing tag on my shoe. After I returned to my room after the race wearing my medal and being super proud of my 2hour 3min finish time, I realized I had put the wrong part of the D-tag on my shoe. I ran the whole race, but no official time and no finishers certificate.

Do you have to have proof for UNDER 2:45? Is that the difference? Oh and I submitted 1:12 10K last year with proof and was also in Corral B...nice surprise to be up close to the front - I felt like a super athlete! Hoping to beat it to keep me in Corral B, still feel like it was a fluke!

Just got back from WDW.....I cannot wait for the next race....but I sure need to start training again. This weather is crazy hot.....and the humidity, sheesh....

The rule is that if you estimate a 2:45 or quicker finish, you must provide proof in the form of a 10k or longer. In general, a 1:14 10k equates to a 2:45 half.... If you have no previous races or they will not support a sub 2:45, then put in you estimated time. I suggest 2:46. As a beginner, you do not know for sure and no proof is required. It will put you in a corral earlier than the last.

The first thing you should do after getting into your room is layout your stuff.
If you forgot something, you have time to purchase it at the expo. Also, layout you clothing again the night before as suggested. Put it in reverse order of dress. Ie. Shoes on bottom, socks, top, etc. Pin your bib on the night before with your top on. Then unpin two holes so you do not rip the bib.

Um, I didn't realize there was a timing tag to go on your shoe... I wore my tag on my bib the whole time. :rotfl: I've run enough races with D-tags, I don't know why I forgot to take this one off my bib...

That sounds like something I would do!!!

I dont know how many of you have RunDisney subscribed for their daily text for inspiration but todays said: pay yourself to run....for every mile you run pay yourself $1, then you will have enough to treat yourself (at expo everybody raving about is my thought!)

Could you tell me where you signed up for the texts? Can't seem to find it, and I'd love to have these, and don't see where to get them! Thanks for any help!

When you are doing your checklists....if you want to take your camera and are charging it up the night before, add putting battery in camera to your checklist. I went to the race without the battery...boy was I bummed!

But still had fun!

I did it! I did it! Hubby and I signed up for the Princess!! Sheesh, I will be 60 years old next month, but I did my first half in March at age 59, so what's 11 more months??!! And he's 63! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

Checklists are SO important! I think someone a few pages back mentioned laying everything out the night before, and I completely agree. Checklist for packing, then a checklist for the night before, including putting your D-tag on your shoe, bib on your shirt, all your throwaway clothing, body glide, sunscreen, etc.

Awesome!! So exciting.

We had a nice break from the heat and humidity here in NC this weekend - 6 miles on the schedule for yesterday including a Galloway "Magic Mile" at mile 2 (mine was 11:06). The humidity was so low, for us anyhow, and it was such a nice day, that 4 of us from the group went out for 4 more miles after.

Anyone following a Galloway program who might be interested, here is more about a Magic Mile and how you can use it to calculate predicted race finish times: http://www.jeffgalloway.com/resources/gallracepredict.html

I just registered and am very excited!!

Question - I looked at run resort rates and they are rated per person?? so not a huge deal if you are paying per person vs. for the room ..?.. am i reading this correctly?

Great tip --- and for those of us flying to Disney ... consider your run gear as carry on!!

We just went to NY from Texas and my son's bag arrived late ... and that made me think of my luck (or lack of) and what could happen in February

WELCOME! And good call on the carry-on. That would be just my luck to have all my running gear making a cross-country trek compliments of the airline. :hippie:

Did you run the whole Magic Mile or did you do intervals for it?
