Just thought of a couple questions for the veterans....

-- race hotel discounts, I know they offered them this year. Does anyone remember $ or % that you recvd off?

-- ticket discounts, if memory serves, I remember reading they were pretty good. Does anyone think they beat undercover tourist prices?

-- can you get both the race discount for hotel and tix or do u have to pick one? I know how Disney doesn't like to stack discounts.....

-- was anyone able to buy the dining plan with the race discounts?

Thanks guys!! ( I think this is my 500th post, do I get a special prize or something? :) )

the discounts on the rooms kinda sucked...we got a better rate using a pin code. i don't remember the exact ticket prices, but they were pretty comprobable to the florida resident prices, if that helps. i think if you bought the package, you were able to do the dining...but my family and i never do the dining so i didn't really pay close attention

The hotel discounts weren't that great at all.

The tickets were cheaper than Undercover by quite a bit. Interestingly the best tickets were 3 day or less and the more days you added you didn't get as much as a discount like normal Disney tickets. But a 6 day park hopper was still cheaper than Undercover. Did that make sense?

I think you could get the hotel discount and the park tickets.

I don't know about dining. We ended up renting DVC points since the discounts weren't that great and then added dining.

Merci

OMG you guys, I am really behind, but I have big news! DH (who has been unemployed/self employed since January) was offered a position in central FL and we are moving once school is out!!!!!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I'm so excited to go on this new adventure!! So, because my life is a flurry of packing and pitching and traveling (we leave Thursday am for a weekend in Orlando/Tampa to go house hunting!!!) I have not run in a million years. I'm hoping to fit it back in after we get back from this weekend!:banana:

I hope everyone else is doing better than I am and is staying injury and burnout free :goodvibes

AWESOME!!! Congrats!!!! :cool1:

Congrats! Our Aunts live in Tampa. It is beautiful there! Happy house hunting!:cool1:

I apologize if this has been asked before. I looked but couldn't find an answer. I've been reading that it's better not to be in the last group to start the race if you want to take pictures and/or are slow (which I am) and want a cushion for the sweeper. I am not going to be ready to run decent 10K by July when the registration for the Princess opens. Is it possible to send in a 10K time AFTER you register? Or is the time you list when you register it? Should I wait to register until I've run a 10K? I'm thinking of running the 10K during the Air Force marathon in September. That's the soonest I think I'll be prepared to run a race of that distance in a decent enough time to even matter.

Thanks for all the great information. It's been almost 15 years since I've run a race and I am still trying to figure all this out.

Yes, you can submit a time after registration...there will be a cut-off date that you can submit it and have your corral changed in time for your bib to reflect it. If you miss that date, you can bring your proof and submit it at the expo...they will verify and update your corral there with a sticker showing your new corral placed over the old corral. I'm not sure what the cut off date is, but I thought last year it was sometime in January maybe? A 10k in spetember will be fine though. They should list an email on the race website that proof of time should be sent to. I did it last year the first week in December and had no problems. After you send in your time and the race you did, they will email you back in a few days to verify and include your new expected finish time and you will be all set!

Congrats on the job! I know how you feel and how much stress that probably was. My DH was out of a job for a long time (TN just wasn't working for us at the time). He now has a part time job and a good chance at a permanent fabulous full time job (fingers crossed ). I hope you have a great time house hunting!!

I haven't raced in 15 years either. :) I have my first race (a 5K) on the 21st. I'm starting small and going big. :) And my plan is to run a 10K in July and then at least one more in Oct. So I can compare times or to at least have one time to submit in case something happens and I can't run the fall race. Life sometimes happens and I want to make sure I have something to submit.

Good luck on your race. Dig deep!

Right now I'm training for the DL half and following a Galloway plan. So this morning I did 4 miles. Man, I feel like I'm never going to get this done easily. I struggle the whole time. Running outside is so much harder than on a treadmill. I skipped most of my training for last year's Princess, so it seemed natural to me to struggle. But right now I'm really sticking to the program. When will it get easier?

I must be landing hard on my heels because they hurt (complain, complain ... I know). But I do not want to stop running ... I'm new and am really enjoying it. I went to a running store and purchased the sneakers they suggested for my feet. Am doing a 36 5k pace ... not great but feel good about it. I have iced my heel and that helps ... but am wondering the best way to actually land so I correct the problem earlier than later.

Thanks!!

Not seeing you it sounds like you are hitting with your heel first and hitting hard. You can always go back to the running store and explain your problem. If they are a good running store than can give you advice on how to change your form. It's allllll about form, and other here might be able to help you... at least maybe explain the stride better in words than me.

Ohhhh boy. I'm not touching the heel strike vrs forefoot strike with a 10-foot-pole this afternoon I'm too tired for a heated debate lol...but I will tell you there is a big difference between landing softly on your heels, and slamming your heels. My guess is you are slamming your heels, and that's causing your pain. Really try to focus on landing softly, and that should help.

This is an interesting read though -

I'm following the Galloway plan too and am going to do 4 miles tomorrow. I'm hoping that it gets easier! But, honestly, to me, what I like better is that I'm starting to CRAVE going out and running! That is really helping (plus my dog is really loving these 1/2 hour runs!)

OK question for everyone who has submitted a time from a previous race - did you all do 10K or can you also submit for a 5K? And did you just email telling them the time, do you also need to provide any other type of proof? I was looking at a local calendar and there are a lot of 5Ks coming up but the soonest 10K is in August!! Just looking and hoping for a better corral placement :thumbsup2

It has to be a 10k. You can email them through December to have the 10k time reflected in the coral placement printed on your bib, or you can bring a printout of your 10k result to the expo and they will put a sticker with your new coral over the coral printed on your bib.

Thank you thank you thank you! That was just what I needed to know! So I guess I'll try out a few 5Ks to practice and gear up for the 10K in August!!
