Does anyone know if they will have "host" hotels, if so do you know which ones and will a shuttle be provided to and from the race? Thanks.

So when is the deadline to submit a 10K time for corral placement? I need to figure out when I need to schedule a race.

I can't remember the exact date, but I want to say it was late Dec or early Jan. My 10k was the first weekend in Dec last year and I know I still had plenty of time to get the time turned in. You can bring proof to the expo too, but if they change your corral there, I think they put a sticker over the corral printed on your bib that reflects the new corral.

While it's still fresh in the veteran princesses minds, how close to the corral start times that were published did they stay this last year?

Michele

I think the start times were pretty spot-on, but my nerves were all a-flutter so they could have been a minute or two off and I wouldn't have noticed!

Do a lot of people in those corrals use the run/walk method? I feel as though I could do a 10k in around an hour and 15 minutes, but wouldn't want to look like an idiot if I walked at all in that group of people.

I was in B and I did a run/walk the entire race. (I do 1 mile run/walk 100 steps...repeat) Even before I came to my first walk break I had already started to see people doing their run/walk intervals. You won't "look like an idiot!" And, if I may add, don't worry about what the other Princesses are doing...come to the race with YOUR plan and run YOUR race....and I can only say that now because it took me quite a while after I started running to finally let it go and not worry about what all the other runners at the parks (that were flying by me!) were doing or what they might be thinking about me. It really was a relief when I could finally stop thinking about that and focus only on what I was doing and follow my own plan...and that included walk breaks! (so take THAT person that would always pass me 3 times around the loop before I even got around once!!! :rotfl:) I think eventually you will find that your half marathon training is going to train alot more than just your muscles and your physical endurance...at least it did for me! :thumbsup2

There will be host hotels that will provide race related transportation...to and from the races and also to and from the expo. They aren't posted yet, but eventually there will be a "travel details" area on the Princess website and the hosts will be listed there. Everyone on these boards is pretty quick so if you miss it on the race website, I'm sure someone will post here when they are posted there.

I hope you are feeling great and back to normal soon, Jess! :goodvibes

Laura

thanks laura!:goodvibes i've been feeling better except today i woke up real heavy in my chest  i'm at work and have my albuterol inhaler, but i just hate how it makes me feel  i might have to buckle down and use it and feel like i'm on crack for the rest of my shift! hoping to get out and do 3miles tomorrow, but i'm thinking it will definitely be a mostly walking kind of thing!

Thanks! That makes me feel so much better. :) I have never been an athlete and I'm still proud I can complete a mile in under 13 minutes--something I could never do in high school when you had to run that dreaded mile! I
m taking this one step at a time!

Would a 10K in October qualify? Or does anyone know if it would have to be later?? Thanks everyone!

I think the qualifying race has to be within the last year, so yes, October would be fine!

Good for you on being under a 13 minute mile. I've been run/walking since last July and still haven't gotten under 14 minutes.

I need to buy a new camera - for those of you who ran with your cameras, any suggestions - need something with a good flash for low light. I've seen alot of good photos.

Alright girls, I need some good book reccomendations for half marathon training! Ready, set, go!

Notes from a recent Princess 1/2 marathoner:

To be in Corral A, my sister had a 10K of just under :58. I had a 1:02 and was in corral B with my daughter who had a 1:04. The A corral seemed to have less people than the others....I think they may have had 2000 and the others, 2500 or possibly more. I saw people in my B corral with numbers into the 4000's. The people in the first corrals are generally runners, not run/walkers. When we started from B (our first 1/2 marathon) there were people that flew off the starting line!

Happy Running....off to run my first 5K today....trying to get quicker for my Disneyland 1/2 marathon in September!
I had 3 friends who where also in corral B and their 10K times where all in the 1:05 to 1:20 range. From what I had heard from runDisney and my friends they divided the corrals by est. finish time. I was in D, which was for 2:50 to 3:00. I know the earlier corrals had a wider time gap, but I don't remember what exactly they were.

I am a little bummed. I had my heart set on running a certain 10k in Nov. and I found out a couple days ago that they are not going to do the 10K this year. :sad2: Now I have to find a different fall run. I am planning on doing 1 spring and 1 fall and submitting whichever is better for next years corral placement.
Right now I plan to take it easy in the summer since Houston summers are killer for heat and humidity.

Mine is older, but whatever you end up with, CHECK THE BATTERIES! My camera takes AAs and I had put fresh ones in the day before, but with all the park pics and trying to take zoom pics in low light at the beginning of the race, the batteries started to die halfway through and needed time to juice back up between pics. I should have brought an extra pair.

Also, my friend has the kind of camera that has a rechargeable battery. We got to the race...and she had left the battery back at the room, still charging. :scared1: She was devastated!

I like Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham.

I second that. It is the only book I read before the princess this year. I started with the run/walk program in Aug and I switched over to Galloway at the end of Dec. My main concern was that I wanted to do more then 10 miles before the race and Galloway has you do 14, although I didn't end up doing the 14. :confused3

Thanks :) The one in Oct. is a :wizard: Halloween race and I'm looking forward to running it. PLUS it's supposed to be nice and flat which is great for TN! We don't get too many races that are flat. :scared1:

does anyone know about how much the entry fees are?? im trying to talk some girls from work to go with me and they were asking. Thanks!!

We paid $130 per person this year for the Princess 1/2 Marathon. I think we may have paid $140 for the Disneyland Half that will take place in September. We did not register for that race until early March (after the Princess.....want the C2C medal!)

I always do that on vacation! It's the worst feeling (even more so than your batteries being dead!)
