My 5 miler today was great! I'm happy with my pace for right now considering I'm only a month into the training. I figure I can knock some time off my pace after another 4 months of training.
It just felt great to finish and still have some gas in the tank!

Ran my 5 miles yesterday on the treadmill. It took me 82 min and my hip is pretty sore today even though I stretched really well. I'm happy because I never thought I would be able to run that long but I'm hoping that I can make some huge improvements on my time because my time was 1:22. I guess that's why I'm training :good vibes

Also a long while ago someone mentioned getting good socks. I went to our local running store and they had a whole bunch of them. I tried them yesterday and they were great. I really think they made a difference.

You did really good on your 5 miles. Keep going.

So excited - ran a really good 6 miles this morning at 11:55 average pace! This is the last longish run before my half marathon next weekend. Having only done one half, it seemed like a good idea to run another one before the Princess, just to make sure that the first wasn't a fluke! A couple short runs this week, get another half on my running resume, and Disney here we come!

Pattie

Good luck in your half marathon!! :thumbsup2

I did it, my 5 miles!!! It took me 1:03 so thats not bad. This is the first time I tried the Clif chomps and it wasn't that bad. Took it around 4 miles, actually was pretty dragging by then should have taken it sooner but I sure felt great finishing off. It did make a huge difference BUT I had a killer migraines by the time I was in church. Maybe 2hr after I took them? My DH insisted that its dehydration and I think it's the chews, what do you all think? I did consume 5 - 16 oz of water the day before but didn't guzzle water after the race. Either way i'm pretty happy I finished upright and not on the floor!!

Finished half marathon #7! Under 3 hours, but not sure of my actual finish time as they haven't posted it yet (and I am a bit concerned they won't, as about 1/3 of the finishers don't seem to have one). I am estimating about 2:54-2:56 based on the gun time and where we started.

That's a great time. Sounds like you didn't take in enough water to me. Maybe try the chomps one more time and see what happens just to be sure.

I was thinking about staying at Windsor Hills, but I would need a ride to the race. Any other DISers staying at WH that could give me a ride? Thanks.

Just found this thread, I'm planning on running the race with my sister who will be doing CP this Spring. Now to catch up on the previous 100+ pages :lmao:

Yeah! Great job! Wow - 7! I can't remember - have you done a full yet, or are you still training? I had been toying with doing a full, but during the last half I did, I was telling myself that a certain place would have to freeze over before that happened!:rotfl:

Thanks!! I managed negative splits for the first time ever, even. The last 2.5 miles averaged about 12:30.

Nope, no full yet. I am registered for my first on Feb 12th in Jacksonville, FL. Although, I waited around today for some friends that were doing the full, and wow. I am scared!!

I have the option to drop back to the half for that race, and we shall see. I am going to work up to 26 by mid-Jan and if I can get there, then I will do it. Otherwise, half it is.

My next half is next weekend at the Outer Banks of NC. Yes, I am crazy.

Just goes to show, running the Princess may be addictive! My first half was Princess 2010...

I completed my first real race today! Ran a 10K at 1:06:12, and the course had a few BIG hills and was actually 6.36 mi (not 6.2!). It felt pretty good, and except for walking up the biggest hills, we managed to keep about a 10 min/mi pace the whole way. I definitely pushed at the end and finished tired. We had the B-chip timing numbers-- it looked just like the one someone post many pages ago.

So my experienced Princesses, where do you think a time of 1:06 will get us, corral-wise? There is another 10K on Thanksgiving that I would consider doing if this time isn't good enough to move up. (I registered for 2:45 with no submitted time.) What kind of 1/2 time should that translate to?

The weather in the NE was beautiful-- perfect running weather! Even though most of the runners seemed pretty serious (we were kind of near the end of the finishers), it was great! I'm so happy with the time!

TiggerAllie,

Congrats on your first 10K. Your time of 1:06 should place you in the B Corral. You can expect to finish somewhere in the 2:20 range at the Princess Half. Glad to hear you are having nice weather in Boston and good luck with your training.
Happy Running!

Where can you find info on what times put you in which corral? I have a 10K coming up and would love to have an idea if I could move up or not.

I haven't found any loclal 10k races to fit into my schedule. I will just take my chances in my corral placement.

You go, girl!! Hubby and I are running the half at the Outer Banks next weekend too! I expect to be .....s.l.o.w..... but as long as I finish upright I'll be happy!

Got my long run in today! 8.1 miles. I averaged about a 12:02 mm did it in 1:37:24. Not too bad. I've been getting over a cold the last week. So I think it affected my pace a bit.

For those of you with the Garmin watch, have you ever had a problem with having the data download from the watch to your computer? When I was out today the battery low warning came on and I can't seem to get my last to runs to transfer to my computer. They are saved on the watch.

Nice job Kat!

You have to do a full at least once. Finishing a half is a huge sense of accomplishment, but finishing a full is a whole other accomplishment. I've found fulls to be so much more mental because of the time your on your feet. After 5:30 hours, crossing the finish line feels amazing! That being said, I enjoy the half distance a lot more and only plan to run another full after Goofy in January, if I can get selected through the lottery to run NYC.

Nice long run! I did 8 miles yesterday too, but it took me 2 hours even, so you're looking great from where I sit! (Of course, my goal is just to finish ahead of the sweepers...)

Anyway, I've had that problem too. Recharge your watch, of course, and then if it doesn't upload try going to Garmin Connect and clicking the upload button in the upper right hand corner, with your fob connected and your watch in range. The software will see your watch and you can tell it to upload data from there. I'm fairly tech-savvy, but I've found the garmin technology to be a bit mystifying. Not sure why I need to do that sometimes, but so far it has worked for me. (I have a 405, btw.)

I would be thrilled to finish in 5:30!! Good luck with NYC, I hear it's amazing.

Official time, 2:57:34. Perfect. I wanted to run it in about 3 hours as my time goal race is OBX next weekend where I am hoping for 2:45 or less (stretch goal).

Garmin: sometimes my garmin gets off when the battery gets low. I would charge it up, and then there is a way to force it to re-download, which depends on your model.
