It was decided last night the DD and I would run as a team this year and I must think of a name before tomorrow.

The Pasta in Park party...once in the park at 6:30pm are we allowed to enjoy anything that is open? Hope some one can answer as that maybe something we want to do.

This will be my fourth Princess and DD's third time...she missed the second year.

Thanks, Nikki for the info. I guess I should check the runDisney site. I ran a 5K this morning and PR'd at 33:29. I'm hoping to find a 10k to do so I can submit that for the Princess.

8 miles done, and I desperately need to do yoga tomorrow. It probably didn't help that I did leg weights on Thursday but at 6 miles my calves and left hip were starting to get tight. Stretching afterward wasn't bad but that's my indication that I've missed yoga. May not be pretty tomorrow but I can't miss any more classes.

I did the same thing!! :lmao: I don't even where regular flip flops, but that and the drink are really tempting me. Not sure about the Brunch - cause I don't know what they are serving. I crave a Cheeseburger and Fries when I am done - not eggs benedict. I hope they post a general idea about menu like they did for the Pasta in the Park.

After this years princess I wish I had flip flops, in fact I am making it my priority to make sure I put some in my mom's bag. My swollen feet were the only thing bothering me after the race.

After my long runs I tend to always want pizza. LoL But I think part of that was not wanting to cook after.

I did 6 today and I am doing yoga this evening. I can be pretty bad about slacking off with my stretching and my calves/ shins are staring to remind me.

Well I did it. I registered!! Now I just need to get the resort thing figured out and I am ready to go. Well that and about a million other things. :confused3

My dad was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. I know the Princess 1/2 benfits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I'd love to raise some $ as part of my efforts to race, but don't want to go all out for the Team In Training. I'll call the organization on Monday, but just thought maybe someone here may know something.
My family has had a rough time lately. DH's best friend died last week. He'd been sick for a long time, we knew it was coming, but it still made it no easier to go through. My grandpa has been in the hospital for the last 3 weeks, slowly fading day by day. And then the lymphoma diagnosis for my dad. I honestly was reconsidering the Princess 1/2, as it is a strain on our budget and I felt a little guilty planning for all the fun of Disney. But then I realized the charity it benefitted and it just seems like I have been drawn to it for a reason. So, onward with training and planning.

I ran the 5k at Animal Kingdom this morning and it was so much fun! I am even more excited for Princess now.

Julie princess:

That did catch my eye, too! And, of all things, I zeroed in on the flip flops. Why, I have no idea.:rotfl:

However, I believe I could pretend I'm at a Georgia game and be drinking a lot more cocktails out of the back of my car for much less than $99! :rotfl2:

Gotta love that sec football mentality :lmao:

The flip-flops are kind of a good idea. I just finished a half marathon + 7 miles beforehand as a training run and when I finished my feet were not very happy. I wish I had checked a pair of sandals in my bag and I did think about the race retreat. Moral of the story? Pack your own damn flipflops and buy $99 worth of your own cocktails :lmao:

I don't think I could drink a cocktail after running all that way. I'd be afraid of puking. I have several pairs of flip flops. I'll have to remeber to put a pair on my bag. Sometimes after I run I cant get my running shoes off fast enough. Anyone know what kind of cocktail they serve. Maybe after I walked around a bit I would be able to down a mamosa. :)

Perhaps they could give out vouchers for a cocktail in parks? I want to celebrate with an orange slushie from France but I also plan on hydrating as much as possible beforehand as well as getting breakfast and lunch.

I am not big on cocktails to begin with, but I think I would be puking with you, plus in my mind it would be a bit early to start consuming alcohol. I am saving that for margaritas at dinner ;)

Mmmmm love margaritas! So where is everyone having dinner after the race? I made an ADR for Teppan Edo. My all time favorite.

We booked Cinderella's Royal Table - very girlie and just fits with the Princess princess: theme of the trip. The other meal we have planned is Boma for our first night - the 24th. We have to be up early to travel from Newfoundland, and plan an early night that first night. And also, since we splurged on AKL for the Princess weekend itself, we want to enjoy the resort.

By the way, for those who are considering booking the dining plan (which we considered) you can't book that and get the room discount through Run Disney. We looked at it because we have few nice meals booked for that weekend, but it's not worth it to lose the room discount.

146 more sleeps!

The Retreat could be interesting but thats a whole lot of money for short period of time. I wonder what they mean by "2012 Princess Half Marathon commemorative giveaway items"? Flip flops would be nice but I already have a few pairs. Did anyone do this before? Is it worth it?

In my mind, I have already been up for 8 hours by the time I am able to get a cocktail (when the beer wagons open in Epcot), plus it's 5 'oclock somewhere.

That said, $99 is a bit steep. I will likely save it (geez, half of it) for drinking around the World Sunday afternoon!

Colleen, great PR on the 5k! Way to go!

Kat - I'm looking forward to it being 5 o'clock somewhere when I finish! Maybe I'll pack a cooler in my van and invite any finishers over for a celebratory drink! :woohoo:

There's been a lot of talk here the past week of a March 25, 2012 Half at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Registration is $65 until mid November and is limited to 4000 entrants. It's called the NC Half Marathon. You gotta search for this race, if only to check out the medal. It has flashing/blinking lights and moving parts. My sister lives there so she'll be able to keep our kids and DH and I can finally run together for the first time ever. Perfect timing as my 40th is a few days later. We're having a Groovy Party! party:

Today is the last day to register with the "discount"-- right?? I think today may be the day to do it!

Question on submitting times from other races-- do you have to submit a time to get anything higher than the last corral? From a friend who ran it last year, I thought you could submit an "unverified" time as fast as 2:45-- is that correct? Since I haven't gone through the registration page yet, I don't know what it is going to ask for, and what those things mean. I'd love some advice from those who have already registered!

I think DP and I are going to register as a team, so we can definitely be in the same corral.

If you think you will finish before 2:45 then you have to give them a race and your finish time for proof of time. After 2:45 you can tell them your estimated time but it doesn't have to be verified.

I don't know anyone who did the cooler in the car trick for Princess 2011. :rolleyes1

That half is all the talk around my running club right now. A lot of my friends are considering it because of the medal!

I am not sure, though, that I can do a full Feb 12th, a half Feb 26th, and another half March 25th...
