Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Yay! I convinced my cousin (SE Florida) to come and watch the kids. Only thing is, I had to bribe her by paying for a room with my points. Since POFQ and POR are sold out, I'm getting her into Coronado Springs . Now her fiance wants to do the run too. It's becoming a family affair! LOL

My plans for race day are: get to race retreat around 3:30am, hang out there, race, hang out in retreat until crowds thin a bit. Then back to BLT to clean up, then to Saratoga springs for lunch at turf club then to the spa for massage and a full facial. Then meet the family at Epcot and dinner at garden grill!

Wow! That's where we are going race night too - the Garden Grill!! What time is your ressie?? I think our's is around 5:00? Maybe I see you there!! I chose that as my celebration meal cause its my favorite place to eat at Disney!!

Although I'm tired after a race I can't seem to nap in the late morning or early afternoon (my girls may though) so the last couple of times I've done race laundry after cleaning up. I'd rather take the stuff home clean than smelly (and it does get smelly no matter the temps) then by mid afternoon we're ready to go to a park and walk around and eat. This year with all 4 of us running together we're eating in the castle at MK, for our celebration dinner.

I finally got back out to run. Life's been a bit crazy as I'm moving around a lot right now. I got 5 miles in this morning and felt pretty good, which did surprise me since I hadn't been able to run recently. Now I just need to start building my mileage again... and pretty quick at that.

Saw the ortho doctor today. No stress fractures! Just REALLY bad shin splints. So no running for 2 weeks. SO that leaves me 4 weeks to kick it up for the Princess! In the mean time I'm going to try the elliptical since we have one right here at home. Definately going to get some compression socks. How do they run on sizes? I'm hoping I still can get in on the schwaggle deal. Where have you that have the Zensah ones gotten them?

Hooray for no stress fractures! I'm getting curious about the compression socks myself now...

It's under the Travel Details section of the Princess 1/2 info. It will say Resort Packages, Theme Park Tickets and Race Retreat.

Are the hotels listed on disneys website the only ones offering transportation the morning of the race? Everything is sold out except Deluxe and family suite at ASM, even with my pass holder rate it's still over $300. Just curious if Hotel Plaza Blvd has transportation or if Princess vets can say that they will add more hotels with transportation? I could drive from home but really don't want to park, etc!

I don't know if Hotel Plaza Blvd will have any busses, but I wouldn't expect it. The only ones that will definitely have busses are those listed on Disney's website. I have heard of people getting up really early and walking over to Saratoga from some of the hotel plaza hotels, but I don't know how much of an option that is though.

I understand not wanting to park there. It took my friend 30 min to just get to the parking for the WDW Half Marathon from one of the WDW entrances and then you have to wait for most if not all the runners to finish to leave...

You may want to look at the online travel sites like Expedia and Travelocity. They have a few rooms at POR, All Star Sports, etc left. Also try running the search as a Florida Resident instead of AP. Sometimes rooms magically appear that way, as well.

I was planning on calling a car service the day before and taking it over to SSR from OKW. I figured if I called ahead and let them know I needed to be at SSR at 3:30, I would be able to take the bus from there. Luckily I have my cousin driving up from South FL to be with me, but this was my original plan.

I did have at least one lymph node that had cancer so it looks like I'm headed for chemo. Oh well, hair is overrated. Thank you all for your good wishes and caring encouragement! It means SO much! That's great! I'm glad you're ready to get out there again!
They've got lots of great running hats out there to keep your head nice and toasty.

I'm glad to hear the surgery went well and you're recovering at home. The chemo news sucks, but your attitude is awesome! You're definitely going to beat the C and come back running again. More hugs and pixie dust for your recovery!
