Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

my trip/race report is on the bottom of my siggie (my blog). i still can't believe it was almost a week ago now that we ran it! i'm wearing my i did it shirt right now! i'm glad i got a large. i asked the nice old lady working the shirt table at the expo if she thought a large was good for me by holding it up. she was like, "well, do you like wearing large trash bags?" lol! i guess she isn't a fan of wearing big shirts. well it WAS big but it shrunk a bit in the wash. so much for pre-shrunk!

i went out and ran yesterday for the first time. i did 3 miles. and it was HARD! also, i'm having some weird toe problems. my second toes (next to big toes) feel like they are bruised or something. they were really bothering me all night. maybe my shoes are too tight? they are the same as i've always been wearing. maybe the extra miles on them last weekend were too much for the toes? hmmm...dunno.

I had the same sensation on the same toes too after the race. For the first few days it was extremely uncomfortable...then the right one started to subside. The left one still has a little bit of the weird bruised feeling in it, but definitely getting better everyday. That never happened to me on any of my long training runs...just at the race, so who knows what that's all about?? The first day when they both hurt really bad I was really worried thinking I was going to lose the toenails...:scared1: Hopefully they are ok though...and my running shoes are the standard full size bigger than my normal shoe size and I was fitted for them at a running store, so I don't think I'm in the wrong shoes.

Yuck, and now I'm totally getting sick! :headache: I was super diligent about loading up on the vitamin C in the weeks before the race, trying to do everything I could to not get sick...of course now that I'm back home I haven't been taking the extra tablets and something's got me. Sore throat, congestion...probably my yearly sinus infection starting up.

My Princess buddy has a bruised toenail now. I think mine are good. I went for a pedicure a couple of days before the race. I tend to get the beginnings of an ingrown toenail. My pedicure girl is awesome at getting it out. Makes running so much more comfortable.

Cripey, I'm getting sick too. Felt it coming on yesterday. Oh well, better now than last week!

ouchie! i just finished a 4 mile run and now my toenails are hurting again. well, i guess technically it's whatever's under my nail but you get what i'm saying.

has anyone been running? i did 3 yesterday and 4 today and i can't tell you how awful i've been feeling! could my legs just still be tired? i ran both times SO slowly and still felt like stopping the whole time.

i want to be back in WDW. next time i'll be there will be january...for the FULL! but at least this time i'll have hubby and the little guy with me to cheer for me :)

I haven't run yet...I decided I'd let myself have a full week off before I jumped back in again. Supposed to have our monthly "super camp" sunday bootcamp class tomorrow, but now since I'm a little under the weather I may not be attending. As long as I'm better, I'll be running next week though. I think BF and I decided last night that we are going to go for DL and Wine & Dine half this year even though they are so close together. My goal this weekend is to figure out where we want to stay for both, get registered for the DL half since it's already at 80% and then figure out a little savings plan for myself so that 2 big trips so close together won't hurt as much :) I told him if we ended up having to do Wine & Dine on a strict budget then it wasn't worth it to me to do both this year. We'll stay longer for that one for the F&W Fest and I want to be able to have a good time and not worry about how much I'm spending on all that delicious food and drink!

I was right behind you for a good part of the race...I recognized your shirt. Just didn't have the energy to speed up and say hi!

Anyone on here that was towards the back of the pack and notice they had some of us slow ones come into Magic Kingdom differently - over by the exit to Buzz Lightyear and not down main street? I wonder why they did that - could it be for rope drop purposes? I was bummed to not run down main street but it was still fun. I just want to have more training next time so I am faster and can take pics and enjoy it all more rather than constantly be worrying about where the balloon lady is!

Yes, I was toward the front of the group that they 'rerouted' after the TTC. We came through Tomorrowland and merged in Fantasyland with the people coming in off of Main Street. It actually wasn't until a little later that I even realized we had been rerouted. We still did the full 13.1 miles (well, 13.3 on my Garmin due to my weaving :lmao: ) so they definitely had measured that in advance. I was sad to be merging in with those people who had just come down Main Street though... I thought something like that was bound to happen though, since they changed the park hours and opened MK at 8 instead of 9.

On top of that, Epcot was crawling with guests when we finished there. They had the walkways roped off and cast members were letting guests run across the 'race traffic' a few at a time to get from one side of the race to the other. It was irritating to have people pushing strollers dashing out in front of you all over the place. One girl who was running near me actually yelled at a guest who decided to step out in front of her. I understand her frustration, but at the time, the whole situation was very funny to me. I did some fancy dancing around a stroller or two.

And, the gospel choir had stopped singing when we got there. They were standing and talking amongst themselves taking a water break. At least, I assume it was a break and not the end of their performance. I was disappointed by that. I think we missed a lot of things being at the back like that. I moved back to F corral to be with a friend and we finished in 3:30, so we were slow, but not 'picked up' slow.

We had a great time though, all-in-all.

I wanted to share this pic of the cute car sticker my BF found for me! He said he found someone that makes them on ebay. He gave it to me as I was laying down for a nap after the race last weekend, but I just got around to getting it on my car this morning.

I did it! First one down. The time wasn't pretty and I now have a phoebia of balloons, but it's all good.:lmao:

Question . . . someone stated on here that they thought some of the princess half marathon merchandise would be on sale somewhere in Orlando. Does anyone else remember this? I didn't buy any princess merchandise at the Expo because, well honestly, I didn't want to jinx myself. So, if anyone could be of help . . . I would appreciate it.

Thanks for all the support, encouragement, and knowledge that you all had to offer!:thumbsup2

I have been reading through your thread in anticipation of participating in the 2012 race, I've only made it through page 15 - I was wondering if there was a DIS meet arranged and what the details were?

Yay! So glad you did it! My time wasn't pretty either.

The merchandise should wind up at the Disney Outlet, in the Orlando Premium Outlets (the ones not too far from DTD0.

Thanks for the heads up about the outlet. I wonder how soon it will get there. I'll have to plan a trip.

:cheer2: Congratulations!:cheer2: I have not been on Dis for a very long time. I scrolled to W.I.S.H. and was overjoyed to see HockeyKat. Proud of you! princess:
