Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

No matter what, I am so excited at the change in my physical health. A year ago, I could barely make it around the block. Now I tell my dh, "Don't worry, I only have 4 miles to get in tonight." :cool1:
Who would of thought that would ever come out of my mouth?!?!?!

I feel the same way! I haven't lost the weight that I wanted too, but I am in such better shape.

KEEP RUNNING!

Merci

You guys brought tears to my eyes...THIS is exactly how I felt two years ago before my first Princess! Look what you've done!!! Be proud and know that you are strong. You've given a gift to your family that is truly priceless: a healthy YOU :cheer2:

Congrats to everyone! What a journey we've taken...THIS month, you will finish a half marathon :worship:

Excuse me while I get my butt out to the gym...

Okay had my first nightmare last night about the race..... :scared1: Got to the corral and nobody would talk to me and then everyone took off and i was WAY far in the back - as in the last one, and no matter what I did I couldn't get moving fast and the road was long and boring with nothing going on. It was as if nobody could see me.... :rotfl: even the sweepers past me without picking me up!!! :rolleyes1

Yes, i tend to worry alot!

I'm so excited, nervous, anixous - pretty much a little bit of everything! I'm clearly not where I wanted to be - but I'm up off my couch and that is a big step that i'm proud of. I'm glad I'm making a difference in my own life. I have lost 16 pounds - not close to the 30 i had hoped to lose by this point, but I will take 16 over ZERO!!

we are sooooo close! I can't wait!

Luckily, that dream is just a dream and never would become a reality at Disney...maybe other races, but this one you will enjoy and won't even see one sweeper! :) 16 lbs. is great!!

Way to go on the weight loss! I too thought I would lose more weight . . . but, I have had nightmares too. My favorite is that someone stole my shoes and I was begging the people at Lady Foot Locker to give me some for the race. I woke up in a sweat!! :scared1:

Thank goodness I am not the only one dreaming weird Princess marathon dreams!! I dreamt that halfway through the race, I drove home (a 1 1/2 hour drive) to let the dog out and then when I got back, I had wasted so much time that they swept me. :scared1:
I know this is very much mental as well as physical. I listen to the song "Get outta your head" when I run to remind myself not to talk myself down. The lyrics are "adult-only" but it certainly works!

Previous princessers- How agressive are they with sweepers? Do you see them at each mile marker? Any warnings before they sweep you?

That is really my biggest source of anxiety. I know I can finish but under the time restraint is a whole other thing.....

Its very difficult to lose weight while training for a long distance race. You need your carbs and calories while training, and for weight loss you need to cut calories down. Remember Daris from The Biggest Loser? He trained very very hard with the marathon in mind, ran a 4:02 marathon and gained 2 pounds! But he looked so great and all chiseled up.

I'm impressed that you lost 16 pounds still ! I lost a miserly 5 pounds when I trained for my first half marathon last year, ... and since then 3 pounds ... THREE pounds in NINE months through training for another 2 halfs (the princess is my 4th) and a sprint triathlon. But - my body shape has changed and I've lost 2 dress sizes. I've gone from 14/16 to 8/10.

Just wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are to me. I log on everyday wondering what wonderful, hopeful, thoughtful, insightful things will be instore for me and there you are cheering yourself and all of us on with your kind words, your mantras, your quotes, your successes and your learning moments. Thank you. :flower3:

Aw, thanks. I'm just givin' back what I'm gettin'.

I am so with you on this. My scale has hardly moved but my clothes are loose and I am not as "jiggly" as before. It is easy to get tripped up by the number on the scale but it certainly isnt the whole picture. We are stronger and healthier!!

Today is a big day for me. I'm having a minor surgical procedure on my back. There is a very good possibility that this will fix the pain that I've had for 5 years. I'm so excited that I'm crying. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I (hopefully) celebrate my freedom from debilitating pain!!!:woohoo:

Hope all goes well!

My DH got called back to work after being laid off for 2 months.
Great news BUT now he can't come with - SO - I've been training for several months, I have my resort booked, I'm meeting my friends in Disney to run with them BUT now I have to get last minute air fair. :headache: It is almost $500 round trip. I'm freaking out!!!

Does Southwest serve your market? Or Airtrans? I usually can find good fares with them. Try cheapoair.com, too.

My scale hasn't moved more than a couple pounds (either way) since I've started training. However, my clothes fit better and everyone says it looks like I've lost 15+ lbs. No complaints, though. I look and more importantly feel better than before I started.

I took the plunge. Southwest on Friday non-stop from Chicago to Orlando $255!! :scared1: I was being pick though... I wanted an early non-stop flight. Airtran - non-stop from Orlando to Chicago on Monday $107. :thumbsup2

Total with taxes and fees $388 :headache: Not the best price I've ever paid, but I do feel better now that I have my resort and my flight booked!! Plus I am a mommy of a 5 and 2 year old going on a vacation with a girlfriend!!!! :woohoo: How cool is that????

I've lost a bunch of inches too but not that much weight. About 7lbs total. I keep telling my DH, I may be chubby, but I'm healthy!!

I'm back from the surgery center. Everything went well. I'm a little sore but that is to be expected. I can resume running this weekend!

You know, I've been thinking a lot about this throughout this whole process. I'm definitely in the "skinny" category, but that's more genetics - I was born a month early and have just been smaller than avg. all my life - lucky. But when I started this thing, everyone seemed to think that I would have no problem "because you're so skinny already!" Ummm... running 2 minutes, I thought I was going to DIE!:scared1: Weight really has nothing to do with being fit and "in shape". I've no idea if I lost weight or not while doing this, but I do notice that my pants are a bit looser. Unfortunately, it's done nothing for the baby pooch I still have - and my "baby" is 2 1/2!
Anyway, I just want to encourage anyone who might be down on themselves or think they are less fit or able to run than someone else simply b/c of weight. Trust me - anyone on this board can kick a skinny couch potato's rear!!! You are healthy and fit - ignore the scale and keep the exercise up - be proud of all you have accomplished and know that all you have done ultimately benefits your family life. Way to go, girls!:cheer2:

That is great news....Congrats! Hoping the pain is gone.

AS for weight, I have lost non. I am down one pants size. I need to work on my diet for sure and I do like my beers and wine which are just empty calories....but I can def tell a diff. Though the muffin, yeah, its there! But who cares, I did this to be heart healthy!

Weight I hate that issue :headache:

I was 100 lbs last year, then I started running and training hard and I gained 10 lbs, I'm 110 lbs and it hasn't moved in a year. I think its all the muscles in my legs, you can really see it when I run.....muscle is heavy ;) I would love to be back at 100 lbs but my body has really changed since I started running! I guess I now have a runners body

I think I've lost maybe 10 lbs since I started running a year ago. I definitely have toned up a bunch. I used to hate running outside without long pants on when it started getting warm because I thought I looked horrible. Now I feel a million times more confident, and hate having to bundle up to go out and run. I definitely have lost inches. People probably think I'm over doing the belted sweater look this winter, but will all my sweaters being too big now, it was cheaper for me to go buy a few wide belts to wear instead of buy smaller clothes.:thumbsup2
