I had so much fun at Princess this year. I am pretty sure I'll be back again in 2011. I liked the March date better, though.

Trudes & El&Asmom - I highly recommend Marathonign for Mortals (MfM)by John Bingham. Very do-able plans for teh Half adn the full, running, walking or combo. Plus, very inspriational.

Trudes - The MfM plan for the half maxes at 10 miles.

I picked 2012 bc we just got back from WDW and also went last year...Hubby wants a break from the Mouse lololol So I set this goal and we agreed on the 2012 race. I JUST started the C25K, and so far so good. I CANT wait until the race it looks like so much fun!!!!!! It is keeping me going so far.

My sister and I are thinking of doing this event. I just bought the Marathon for Mortals book and cannot wait to read it.

Thanks Carrie, I ordered the book and it just came in the mail today.:) I hope to start reading it this weekend.

I have been reading other programs that max at 10 miles. I have been told that if I can run 10 miles, I can run 13.1.

that whole concept had me a little confused. I am that kinda person who has to do it to give myself the confidence that I can really do it when the time comes. So I read MFM and they say trust me. If you can do 10 the other 3.1 are all mental so if your determined you will be able to finish. :thumbsup2

I am going to trust in it. Hope you like the book, I read it and thought it was great and very informative. I am going to use the plan but wont start it until november. Good luck!

That's me, I feel like I have to actually run 13.1 to know that I can do it. Like you, I may just have to trust it.

The 1/2 marathon training program from www.runningforwomen.com will take you all the way to 13 miles. I haven't done this program yet, but I have completed her 5K plan and am in week 4 of the 10K program now. I'm not familiar with the MFM plan, so I don't know how it compares otherwise.

Good luck with your training!! :cheer2:

I think Jeff Galloway's program takes you to 14.5 a few weeks prior to the half. I am using his plan to train for a 10k, and it goes above the distance as well. I know I can physically do 13 miles if I have done 10, but I think knowing that I have done it before will help me mentally.

Hi all - I'm starting training once we get out of school to run the princess half marathon. I live in NC, so I know what the heat gets like in the summer, but what is the weather usually like in FL in February? I'm excited to do this since I've never run a half before.

Hi everyone

On Thursday we are off to Disneyland. We are taking my niece and nephew who have never been there before. I can't wait!!:yay: I am ready to go now. We will be there for 5 days. I was there last year for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon for 5 day too but, I think I went to the park maybe one day out of the five. So this time it's going to be so much more fun with no stress of the race and it being my niece's first time. With that said..........

I will start my Princess 1/2 marathonprincess: training first thing when I return. I am so out of shape right now I hope I make in Disneyland... I will say hi to Mickey and the gang for everyone!!!:mickeyjum

HI Everyone!

Just talked to Disney Endurance, and their are a few changes that the cast member shared:

1. Since the race SOLD OUT this year, they are expanding the size by up to 5,000 more runners.

2. They are working on an after party, to be held on Sunday night

3. They are hoping to use the same race hotels as last year, but with an increase in runners that could change somethings. DVC hotel should be the same though he said.

4. Race is opening late, because they found too many people waited to sign up last year and with a delayed reg period more people would do the Disney Food n Wine..........smart thinking on their end!

5. Should the race close out with the same numbers as last year prior to the Food n Wine expo they will open more spots ---- since Race reg increases after people have actually completed the half.

Just thought I'd share.......................I will be there, but not sure if I need to do the AFTER party :)

I think they'll probably experience a huge decrease from last year, seeing as they changed the date to a much more inconvenient one.

Thanks for all the info! :goodvibes Does anyone remember off the top of their head which DVC hotels were part of the group in 2010? TIA!

thanks swim mom. Interesting update. Can you tell me the host hotels from last year. I was so hoping for CBR this year.:guilty:

I'm very surprised to hear that the host resorts are going to be the same as last year, but then again I was suprised when they changed the dates, so who knows!! I do know that SSR was one of the DVC resorts for last year though. Hope that helps!

I don't know...it may be inconvenient for some of us, but they got a lot more publicity for the Princess this year so I really do think it will be a lot more popular. Their strategy of opening up the registration later is actually pretty smart. Plus, it outside of peak season - for those flying out, the airline tickets should be a bit more affordable. The only thing that concerned me about the date change was the temperature and it is what it is. In the end, it may be a lot better to race when the weather is cold than hot. Won't know the verdict regarding that until after I run the Disneyland 1/2 in September.

Unfortunately, it IS peak season for those of us from the northeast. Flight prices for us will be off the charts. It's the last weekend of the school February break - which also causes some issues if we wanted to decompress after the race - , instead of racing to the airport to fly back home in time for school the next day. Groan. :confused3
