I hate it when I quit getting email notices for this board and all of a sudden I realize I haven't gotten any for a few days. Hate that!

:headache:

As you can see on my top ticker my first HM is getting closer! This week alone I will log 28 miles including a 12 miler this coming Sunday. Feet don't fail me now!

:scared1:

Just did my 12 on Saturday. It was fun! You will be great.

THANKS! My past two 11 milers were a piece of cake...relatively speaking...so I am not worried at all. I will start honing in on my actual HM strategy by getting the GU just right and also my breakfast before. I do NOT like surprises come showtime.

Hi everyone, Thanks so much for the responses! After rereading my original post about doing a 1/2 marathon this weekend, i realize how unclear I was..sorry!

I signed up for a 5k for Sunday however they are also having a 1/2marathon at the same time.. I decided to do the 5k cause at the time of sign up i didn't think i would be ready for a 1/2 but now since i am able to complete 10miles i have been rethinking my choice and thinking i should switch it up and do the 1/2marathon..? Scares me but Im thinking I can handle it..

I did run 6 miles today and tomorrow and thursday i will just do 3 each day, that way if I go for the 1/2 my body won't be to taxed...

Thanks again!!

Me neither. Except for a new course. That I do like.

That's a lot of miles. You are doing great.:woohoo: Go Laurie!

I love my training plan and will use the Smart Coach maintenance plan after my Half. I will then start my Princess training plan December 5. Bring it!

The Smart Coach maintenance plan? With my 1st Half being October 9th, and I have been trying to figure out how I will maintain before actually starting my official training for the Disney Princess.:confused3

Build your mileage.

Yep! When you are filling out all of the info there is an option for maintenance and its very very doable.

Me too! I have a hard time keeping up with everything - but the posts are all so helpful!!

Uffda, I didn't know we could set it up to get emails. I just come here, read posts, and hit refresh.

Chop~What part of WI are you from? I am about an hour North of Eau Claire.

Hi all.
Having computer issue, so not able to post/read as much.

Had speed training last night with bleachers. It was tough but I loved it.

I am thinking of signing up for a 15K first week of Novemeber. Just not sure I can do 9 miles in 2 months.

I should just of for it right. I wont't know til I try???

looking at the different training for beginner versions out there, the mid-week runs seem to be a bit different. jeff galloway pretty much just has you running 30-45 minutes during the week (so, for me, that's about 2.5 - 4 miles). hal higdon has me doing anywhere from 3-5miles during the week.

what are your week-day runs like? does it really matter as long as you're running? with my baby jogger, i really can't go any more than a 5k. it's just too exhausting pushing that thing. but i'm afraid if i don't move up to 5 miles 3x week i'll be in trouble.

also, how is everyone's mileage on the weekend building? adding a mile each week? i'm thinkng about doing that til i get to maybe 10 or so and then just holding there til the princess half. or is it better to go up and down like 10-8-6-etc?

Trudes - I am in the southeast corner - right on the border of Illinois and on Lake Michigan. Too bad we are so far away - I'd love to run with someone!

My mid-week runs are between 4 and 6 miles, depending on how I feel.

The standard "rule" is that your long run shouldn't be any more than 40% of your weekly mileage, and should be closer to 30%.

With my LR, I either added a mile every other week, or two miles every three weeks.

Good for you! Here's hoping it works out! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Just wanted to say thanks for the well-wishes last week on Friday...I was able to meet up with a very nice couple Friday night in Ananheim and get their Disneyland 5k race number, T-shirt and goodie bag that their son decided not to use...so I got to run my first-ever Disney race saturday morning through Disneyland and California Adventure...it was SOOOO fun! And I'm proud to say it was my best time yet and for the first time took ZERO walk breaks. I was thrilled! And as icing on the cake, my BF had an awesome half marathon the next day, finishing in 1:54:10...a personal best for him as well, shaving off 18 minutes from his Disaney World half time in January. I am super-pumped for February now! I stopped by the Disney booth at the Expo and picked up several of the Princess Marathon flyers that they had to post up at my house and office to keep me motivated...oh and also got to see the medal for the new Wine & Dine half...VERY cool medal...will definitely be signing up for that one next year!
