Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

We're going to the 9/13 party  We have ADR's for LTT @ 5:20 -- is this ok? I've been reading some posts that say to eat as early as possible, but this was the earliest time I could get when I made reservations. I've only eaten lunch at LTT so I'm not sure how long dinner lasts (I know buffets usually run a bit longer).

You should be right on time. Liberty TT is not a traditional buffet, it's a family serve style with the food brought to your table and not as many choices so it goes faster.

PLEASE be sure and run to your computer and post the map for this year. I can't wait to see what's where. Please take some pictures. :flower3:

:hourglass one month from tomorrow!!! :cheer2:

We are going that same night and have reservations at LTT. LOL

Just wondering what time I should go to the will call window? Can I pick the tickets up a day or so in advance to avoid it on the day of the party?:confused3

Finally just got done reading this thread. I am SO excited about going! We will be at the Sept 27th party. DD10 doesn't know about our trip yet so I'm having a hard time containing my excitement! Halloween is her favorite holiday and we've always wanted to go to MNSSHP but haven't made it yet. She keeps asking if there is any way we can try to go this year but I just keep telling her it's not possible. She will be so surprised! Anyhoo, we are going as the Flinstones. DH as Fred, me as Wilma, and DD as Pebbles. I think I'm going to try to get our dog a Dino costume so he can join us as the Flinstones on actual Halloween night when we are home. :)

For those wanting some inspiration, I found a couple of pages on the Disney Family site. It's for homemade Disney costumes. :thumbsup2

Going the same day, first party of the year! :cool1:

Us too! First party ever, first party of the year! We moved our vaca back by a week so we could go :thumbsup2

We are going as Les Chefs de France! (We are quirky like that). We have berets and will wear aprons with a French flag on it. Most people probably won't get it, but that's fine. It's cool in the FL heat (just pants, a tee, an apron and a hat that we can take off when needed). Can't wait!!!

Typically, how busy do the first couple of parties tend to be? I would guess that the closer to Halloween, the busier the party. We're going to order tickets for the 9/16 party! So excited!!!

My going to be 10 yr old son always wants to be some kind of commando with a gun. (Not sure if this is because I won't let him purchase first person shooter games or in spite of it...-?) This year we are doing MNSSHP and he wants to be a SWAT team member....thinking about it because I could jusy buy him the SWAT equipment vest and he could wear it with shorts and a t-shirt to be cool. He knows he's not getting a gun to walk around WDW with, but I'm just wondering if it would be okay to fill the vest with equipment- obviously some fake equipment...?;) like dead batteries for ammo (don't think this would look too real) and a walkie talkie, etc. Maybe a SWAT helmet. He would not get to carry any kind of gun. Do you think this would raise eyebrows at the party?

Thanks for any feedback---last time we went to MNSSHP he was 3 and a cowboy.

What a great idea!

I think as long as you didn't let him bring the gun in that would b fine, I would think he is a normal kid/boy who likes to play "swat". My nephew has that outfit too. I don't think you should try to let him bring in the gun like you said. If he gets upset, you always have the excuse to tell him Disney won't let him bring it into the parks anyways, and I really think they actually wouldn't. Have fun.

I am pretty sure Disney DOES allow guns. If you tell him they don't allow it and others have them... well, I guess it could be a mistake, but he might think you lied to him. My husband is wearing a gun on his costume. It is an obviously fake gun, but he preferred the gun to sword. The rules say nothing sharp I believe....

Children are encouraged to attend the party in costume.

FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD AND OTHERS, PLEASE ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES BELOW.

Halloween costumes should NOT:•Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with their ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches).
•Drag on the ground.
•Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally stike another guest.
•Be offensive to other guests.
•Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

Unless it was a bright green and orange water gun I wouldn't be bringing it in. This is post 9/11 ppl, really, anything resembling a real gun will be taken away or will have to be trashed.

I am going to the halloween party on oct 13th with my husband. Im dressing up and I was wondering if I can go to park around 2 already in my costume. We have dinner reservations at 4 and I dont want to go back to my hotel to change and then go back again to the park or carry around a back pack to change into. Please any info would be great~!!

I would call and check first. Technically you are only allowed in at costume starting at 4 pm. I wouldn't want you to get there and then they say no. I think it also depends on what your costume is... but I would DEF call first and ask someone, or post it on a new thread on the DIS to see, because usually adults can not wear costumes, only at MNSSHP, and since the party doesn't start till 7, but the tix let you in, in costume at 4, it would majorly stink to get there and not be able to get in. Better to be safe then sorry I say. :) Hope this helps. I'm just thinkin of my costume, I'd be pissed if they said no! LOL

I just read this on the other post. I didn't remember reading it in the last set of rules I read. :( I don't get how they can say that though when they sell these items AT the park. We have bought swords and guns from adventureland in the past.

Because once you pass through security and they know you don't have a gun, any fake one you buy in the park will be ok. Disney security will know what they look like and therefore they will be considered acceptable. I would buy a Disney one at the park as it is more likely to be ok to go in and out of security with

You can also buy real swords and knives and Epcot, but you can't bring those into the party either...lol :goodvibes

A fb friend who has worked security at WDW just told me that,

"if it looks like a modern hand gun or rifle, it will not be permitted in the parks. They know what their park merchandise looks like, so that will be acceptable. Anything that looks like an old timey Pirate gun, like you said, is up to the discretion of security. It probably won't look very realistic, if it a costume piece, so I would think they'd let it in, unless it is a replica piece or a very very well done prop, but anything you'd buy at a costume shop, doesn't look all that realistic, actually."

So, that was he said.

Thank you. :) This one doesn't even come close to looking real. It is just a costume accessorie, not a nice one off of ebay or anything. If worse comes to worse we can buy him one in the park and then give it to one of our sons when we get back. :)

Cinderella Coach? REALLY? DD will LOVE this. She is doing BBB to get dressed as Cindy and then having dinner in the castle before the party starts. Someone who attends in Sept. PLEASE post where it's located. Hoping to be done with dinner by 6:30 and would love to be in line for this first thing!!!

Hi, I am sorry if this has been covered already but I searched and couldn't find the answer. What do the tickets look like? I am just wondering if I should just do the Eticket or if it is worth the extra $5 to have them mailed to me. TIA!

Someone posted a pic of the map from last year and there was something that said "use the 40% off code for photopass pics on the back of your ticket". I opted to print my tix and didn't see any discount codes for photopics. Anyone know if this will be offered again and if I can get it even though its not on my tix??
