Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

We got our costumes I am being Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, DH and DS are going as Indianna Jones, Our girls are going as a Pirate, Alice and Wonderland and Ironette. I am so glad to get our costumes settled. The only thing I am waiting on is DS's shirt. We are going to the September 20th. party!

Each year our family always comes up with a "group" theme. I'm a little stuck this year on ideas!

We are a family of 5 going to MNSSHP on 9/27: me, dh, ds8, ds6, ds2.

I was thinking of doing t-shirts each with a different superhero.

In the past we've done:

harry potter, pirates, incredibles, cat in the hat, football teams, lilo&stitch

Anyone have any ideas?

I really like Trueblood and thought of wearing a Merlotte's t-shirt, having my husband in a BonTemps Football shirt and having my 3 boys as either a vampire or werewolf!!!!! But I don't think they'll go for it!!!!:rotfl2:

Just a thought Peter Pan the younger ones can be John and Micheal and when you get them back to your hotel they are already in the pjs (double win). ds8 can be Peter Pan wearing shorts not tights, dh can be Captain Hook or Mr. Smee and you can be Wendy or Tinker Bell

Waaay in advance question here....I am planning on going to the MNSSHP next year. My husband and I will be there the last week of September. Is is fairly typical year to year that Tuesdays and Fridays will have MNSSHP? I am trying to map out my strategy for parks probably way too early (I am in charge of planning too many trips in the next year :) and trying to get a jump on it. Thanks so much!

Girl, I have no idea, but you have come to the right place. :thumbsup2 No one will understand planning a Disney trip a year in advance like Disers.

are the dates closer to Halloween (not Oct 31st itself) usually more crowded than the week prior. For example, will Oct 23 or Oct 27 be more crowded?

I am going to post this question again to see if I can get any advice on the the Oct 23, 25 or 27th party....what party would be the least crowded? Oct 31st is my 40th b-day and I want to celebrate by going to the HP, what night would be best for the least crowded night?? (do not want to attend the 31st b/c do not want kids to miss being home for trick or treat)
Thanks for any input :yay:

I found 2010 info this on FB:
Disney is infamous for not changing the weekly schedules for events from year to year, especially for things like MNSSHP, MVMCP, Flower & Garden and Food & Wine. Last year they added 11/1 to MNSSHP only because it was the Sunday of Halloween weekend. They may add a day, but I've never seen them take a day away.So, if Disney keeps true to form, the 2010 MNSSHP dates will be September 3 - 10 - 14 - 17 - 21 - 24 - 28. That's Tuesdays and Fridays during September.Octobers Dates will be 1 - 5 - 7 - 8 - 11 - 12 - 14 - 17 - 19 - 21 - 22 - 24 - 26 - 28 - 30 -31

**And in 2009 we went to the HP Friday Sept. 18! I hope this info helps!

You can make assumptions but in reality you will never know what Disney has planned. :)

Last year they had dates on Saturdays in September as well (I went on 9/25), but there are no Saturdays in September this year. (It made me quite sad since that worked better in my schedule than Fridays do, but I made it fit this year!)

Went to my local Disney store yesterday :cloud9: I love that store!!
DD wants to be Ariel for MNSSHP, soooo I went to the store and.....as dd says.....wait for it....they no longer carry the style she wants:scared1::scared1:
WHAT?! Yes, it's true, the new style for Ariel costume is a more ball like gown, Ali wants the more form fitting one with straps. So, luckily, it was still available online with FREE shipping, so it's been ordered along with the tiara!

Add us to the MNSSHP list. We have tix for the 10/2 party. :cool1:

This will be our first one & we are looking forward to it. I'm told the Headless Horseman alone is worth the price of admission.

I've skimmed the first few & last few pages, but am wondering, are two adults not in costume going to be totally out of place? You all have some great, very detailed costumes lined up, but that just isn't us. However, we don't want to be the only two there not in costume either.

You will not be the only ones without a costume. I have been to at least one party every year since I moved to Orlando (2007). I normally go with my adult brother (we are in our mid-late 20s). We have never dressed up and never feel out of place. You will have a great time either way!

We've extended our stay and now can't decide between the MNSSHP Oct 2 or 6th. Any recommendations?

Who does the trick or treating: kids only? or can adults also trick or treat?
Another ? --when does the horseman ride ( I know it's somewhere on here, but I can't find it) ? and when should we find a seat to see him and wait for the parade? TIA!
33 MORE DAYS!!!!
