I saw a couple of elf postings in the past month, but figured I'd kick off the official "elf-capades" post that we've been having the past few years. Here are the previous elf capades posts since 2008:

I don't know about anyone else, but with this being the 4th year that Charlie and Holly are coming to visit, I'm running out of ideas! LOL! Let's post our elf mischief ideas here so we can help one another out :santa:

This is our first year with an elf watching over us in our home. So, I can't wait to read about everyone's elf capades. :upsidedow

Buddy is coming to our house Next Friday for the 1st time to visit DS5. He is a little different than some of the elves as his job is to help DS remember the real meaning of Christmas. He will of course keep an eye on his behavior too. He has plans to leave a couple different art kits to make come Christmas ornaments for people that might need cheering up and he is going to leave a cookie mix to make cookies for a elderly couple and new gloves to wear Christmas Caroling. Might leave a movie or two and just some letters to praise the good spirit things he sees. I am sure he will get into a few bits of trouble as well.

I love that :goodvibes

Last year was the first year we did the elf thing. Ours didn't get in to much mischief, so much as just found really unusual places to perch himself each night. The kids got a kick out of finding him hanging from the chandalier in the dining room, and were totally suprised to find him one morning actually perched on top of the curtain rod in their bedroom.

He occasionally brought a note from Santa praising them for their efforts (and once reminding them what sort of behavior was expected of them).

This year, he will be delivering the Lego City advent calendar on Dec. 1.

I didn't think to leave little gifts for my grandchildren, thanks for the thought. He will appear the day after Thanksgiving here...now I am excited:)

He is officially going to be sitting on an empty Christmas tree surrounded by boxes of decorations ready to get us all in the festive spirit when the boys wake up tomorrow. He will also be bringing their Lego advent calendars on Dec. 1st, their Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve...and getting into more mischief this year than in years past. He's even even coming to Disney World with us on the 6th, since he will want to make sure the boys are being good!

Thanks OP for starting the official 2011 thread! :flower3: I've been jumping around commenting on a lot of them but this is so much easier having all the 2011's in one spot!

First of all, for those of you with a Meijer's in your area, here's a deal from another poster...take this week's ad that has the Lego City Advent Calendar for $29.99 to Target for a price match, then use the lego coupon (online coupon or in Targets Toy catalog) for another $5 off. Then, since I picked up two I used the $5 off $50 in toys (peeled off the mailed Target toy catalog) getting it down to $22.50 each. That's our Dec 1st gift from the elves!

My DS6 wrote a letter to Santa asking him to let the elves come visit us again so I have a response ready to put in the fireplace letting them know the elves will be back shortly after Thanksgiving.

For those of you that are still in need of an elf I see that TRU is selling the figures from Arthur Christmas---I only saw them in the ad so I don't know how workable they are but I do believe the price for the stuffed ones are $6.99. And the best part...they're cute & not creepy! ;)

Looking forward to sharing all of our ideas & experiences the next 6 weeks!

Our Charlie elf is like this as well.... every year on a few occasions, he'll leave money out for our girls to put in the Salvation Army red buckets and he'll leave a bag of canned goods/pasta for them to bring in for the food drives @ school. :goodvibes I'd love to come up with more ideas along those lines as well... keep them coming! :santa:

Wow - I logged on tonight because I was thinking about ideas for Eve this holiday season. Some different ones we did last year.

1. A button had come off a doll of my daughters. She woke to find Eve in a chair with needle and thread and button fixed. (after all elves are good at working with dolls)

2. My daughters absolute favorite is when Eve leaves her notes/clues around the house to where she is hiding. Kinda like a scavanger hunt.

Side note...bless all of you that bring the elves our right after thanksgiving. I could never come up with all those ideas. 10 nights is all I can do!!

Our elf, Kendra, will come out on Thanksgiving morning. Can't wait to read all the ideas. I love the previous ones about teaching giving and the spirit of what Christmas is about.

This is our 3rd year with Frisbee, my GS is now 6 years old and he is sooooo looking forward to Frisbee's return after Thanksgiving! I have to admit by the time Christmas is here we are running low on ideas and really can't wait for Frisbee to RETURN to the Northpole!! I am looking forward to any new idea's I can get here!!

Some of the ones we do are:

Frisbee brings small gifts, video's, stuffed animals, new Christmas pj's.
ALWAYS a big hit- Frisbee will decorate's Jake's room (this usually will happen on a weekend that he has gone to visit his father, because it's difficult to do when he is home) we actually WRAP the bed with wrapping paper, wrap the door, decorate with christmas lights, ornaments, etc. This is usually a big hit.

Frisbee will decorate the christmas tree with his underwear & socks, this is another big hit with Jake, he loves it.

Frisbee likes to decorate things, he will do the bathroom with lights once, the kitchen with lights & candycanes.

Love when FRisbee comes, but Love when he leaves too!! Keep those idea's coming!!!

Charlie usually arrives the evening of Nov. 30-Dec. 1st to kick off his stay.... he always fills the advent calendar with candy to start Dec. 1st :santa:

Holly usually arrives a short time after (she was introduced the 2nd year).

Here are some pics of their past antics:

The unmentionables on the Christmas Tree....

Nice healthy Elf breakfast to start the day :rotfl:

Monopoly with the AG dolls....
Christmas09077.jpg

They always make a pan of rice krispie treats covered in melted chocolate. Funny thing is, my 9 year old DD was telling someone the other day that nobody can make them as good as Charlie... not even her Mom! :rotfl:
Christmas2010214.jpg

Playing bananagrams (notice the "Reindeer Poop".... of course that kind of humor always goes over well with kids :rotfl: )
Christmas09081.jpg

They helped by packing the girls' lunches one night...

Oh, and we can't forget that time that Charlie ate too many sugar cookes and got sick

Lastly-they like to throw a party on their last night (Dec. 23) and usually decorate for the occasion...

Some of the other things our elves have done in the past are:

*Parking the car crooked in the driveway after going to McD's for a late night snack.... there's usually some McD's wrappers/bags scattered around the living room w/ a $5 GC for each to get a happy meal.

*Made "flour angels" on the counter after making cookies

*snowball fights with the webkinz in the living room using cotton balls

*stringing toilet paper all over the girls' rooms so when they woke up, they had quite the surprise!

*covering their bedroom doors with wrapping paper so they had to bust through to get out in the AM :rotfl:

*writing on the bathroom mirror with lipstick/shaving cream

*playing games on the computer

*Playing the Wii

*Watching Christmas movies all night with popcorn all over the living room and all the girls AG dolls joining them w/ sleeping bags and pillows

*wrapping the tv remotes up with wrapping paper and bows

Etc., etc., etc......

We also have a journal that Charlie arrived with 4 years ago (just a composition notebook). Charlie and my girls write back and forth to each other each day/night. It's so much fun to go back and see what they were writing and drawing a few years ago! :santa:

our elf is named Jingles and this will be the 3rd year we will have him. It is so fun and the kids love it. I am thinking he will arrive the morning of Dec 1 with some present or homemade advent calenders( not sure what to do for these yet but have some mini chocolate bars and gonna grab some more)
We have done socks on tree, floor angels, building snowmen with mini marshmallow, elf pee in toilet( green food coloring) toilet paper house, watching movie( then gifts a movie), playing wii, in the shoes as he went out and played,
I love some of your ideas and gonna try some new ones this year so fun. I do want to do the mcdonalds one with gift cards, and love the idea of throwing a party and filling kids lunch boxes lol.

LOVE THIS IDEA!!! I am starting it this year! GS is 6 yrs old and they "Journal" in school, so it would be a great reinforcement to his school work plus it would be so great to look back on!! I told him last night that when I spoke to Santa few days ago he said he was going to send something new with Frisbee this time, a journal that he could ask him questions and Frisbee or Santa could answer, he was soooo excited!! Can't wait to start it!! Keep those idea's coming!! awesome!

just giving the thread a little bump :santa: since Thanksgiving is in 2 days and the elves will be descending upon the houses soon!

I just ordered our Annalee Whimsy Elf to start the tradtion at our house. Thanks for all the great ideas...keep the coming!!!!

Thats cute...but WAY too much work for me!! lol. I have enough to do with just getting Christmas presents ready. :)
