Official 2011 Disneyland Half Thread!

Ok, so it sounds like 5:00 at the bakery on Saturday is the "Official" meet. Then, before and after the race at "W".

I hate to be the lone desenter. I'm feeling pretty good about the race. My only problem recently has been some nagging knee stiffness. I'm hoping the rest of the taper will take care of it. Fortunately my problems happened the end of June so I've been able to mostly heal from them.

I am also feeling pretty good about the race. Today was easy at the track and just a couple short runs now until the Big One! Good luck everyone and hope to see you in Disneyland!
Happy Running!

Got out today for a 10 mile walk. Knocked off 10K in 1:01 and the rest was at a slower, get the distance in pace. Feeling pretty good right now.

Next time out will be Thursday with DW after she flies out here to El Paso. Then on Friday it's out the door at 5:00AM for the 12+/- hour drive to Anaheim.

Going to be a fun time at DL for us and the 2 grandsons since this will be the first time there for all. :cool1:

I think it will be pretty cool seeing all the W.I.S.H Members out on Sunday. Good luck to ALL! :thumbsup2

I'm feeling pretty good too. My training has been consistent even with the really high temps - just went to a tiny indoor track when it got dangerously hot.

I actually feel better prepared for this half than for any of the other race in a long time. Now to see if it all comes together....

I am shooting for a nice comfortable pace with lots of picture taking. I have actually gotten fast enough that I am not worried about the sweepers :rolleyes1

Hope to catch you guys at the Bakery on Saturday - safe travels everyone!

I called today Run Disney to ask about the runner tracking ETA. I was told that it would be available at the Expo or 'up in a week or so'. When I pointed out that the race would be over in less than a week or so, I was told that they are still struggling with difficulties, so I guess something is preventing them from being able to organize and post the link for it. She told me to call back in a couple days. Too bad I'll be flying...

BTW, they're phone tree doesn't function correctly so calling them is almost as frustrating as reaching them. :rotfl2:

Thank you for letting us know. I have been watching for this for some time.

Ok weird question: Do you shower the morning of the race?

For all my training runs, I just roll out of bed, get dressed and throw my hair up. But this one involves people and pictures. Is it weird to shower just to go and get sweaty and gross?

I showered for the Princess Half just because I had a roommate, and she did. I didn't want to look dirty.:lmao: But I probably won't for this one. I'm in a room by myself, and I see no point in being clean just to go sweat.

I never shower before a race. Just roll out of bed, put the race day outfit on and go. Only five days now until we will be running in the streets of Anaheim and through the most magical place on earth......can't wait!

Happy Running,
Pam

I showered the night before the race. After spending the day in the park, I felt I needed it. It was a lot warmer there than I was use to for that time of year.

I'll probably shower the night before, and then lay all my clothes out for the morning. So I can just get up, get dressed eat breakfast and go.

I take a shower the night before, but not usually the morning of. I do like others and just roll out of bed. Every minute of extra sleep I can get makes me really happy! :upsidedow You get sweaty regardless of if you shower or not and I would be suspicious if someone looked picture perfect with all the characters.

Guess I'm the exception - for training runs it is roll out of bed and hit the trail, but for races I always shower first.

Something about putting on the race number and having my picture taken wants me to at least start the race looking spiffy. Not that it lasts with how sweaty I get :rotfl:

I'm with you. I'll go to bed ten minutes earlier to take a shower and be refreshed and look my best for any pre-race photo ops. :goodvibes

After the start though, its glamorous to glisten!!!

I guess it all depends on how you look right out of bed. If my hair was sticking straight up, frizzy or baseball cap worthy, I would probably have a different approach. But, my hair doesn't really get messed up when I sleep. Thankfully!

I just get up and go. :thumbsup2

I don't usually shower before the race, just roll out of bed and get there. I do come back and take a nice long one after the race and after I've iced everything. That's also my normal routine (roll out of bed, run, shower, go to work or do whatever I'm doing for the day).

It's 7AM and Wednesday and I have today and tomorrow left at work and then I'm flying out to Cali early Friday. I'm so excited to finally go home (first trip home since I moved) and I have my family and friends also counting down since I'm seeing almost everyone this weekend!

I'll admit, I packed last weekend, but it was to make sure everything would fit in just a carry-on. I've somewhat unpacked and tonight I'm packing again so tomorrow I can relax with my roommates, wake up early on Friday for the flight!
