Office Bathroom Etiquette - A Rant

This is just a rant post. I feel like the office bathroom monitor. We have someone (maybe more than one) in our office that keeps leaving the paper toilet seat cover on the seat in the stall. Hello? They are flushable! If you don't want to touch it, push it into the bowl with the toe of your shoe. I just finished taping notes inside of all of the stalls reminding them to dispose of the paper seat cover when they leave the stall and pointed out that "just as you don't want to touch the seat, your co-workers don't want to touch the paper you just sat on." I think this is the same person who opens the door with a paper towel (which is fine) but tosses it on the floor by the door on her way out (which is not fine). I put a trash can by the door, but the cleaning staff will likely move it tonight.

Am I crazy to be bothered by this? Maybe I just need a vacation. LOL

Perfectly acceptable rant.

We have those offenders too along with the ones that will take all the phone while in 4 stall bathroom. :confused3 People also refuse to use the air freshener- its in every stall for a reason!!!

In the ladies room at my DH's office building, they had to put signs inside every stall reminding people (in English and Spanish!) to flush the toilets! Seems a lot of "ladies" weren't flushing. Yikes!!

I had someone on my staff (several years ago) who would never replace the toilet paper when it ran out. Even after speaking with everyone about this, it continued to happen. So my assistant and I started using the empty rolls (the cardboard portion) for craft projects and we made TP roll people, decorated them, made clothes for them, etc. and placed them in the bathroom. Every time an empty roll was left, by the end of the day, another TP person joined the wall in there.

This woman never changed her ways but we got plenty of miles of laughs out of it. I'm not sure the lightbulb ever goes on for people with self entitlement egos.

We have several of those in this office as well. Lucky for the women, the smell is usually coming from the mens restroom.

BUT, we also have 1 really gross nasty woman, who at least once a week "forgets" to flush!!!! :scared1:  :scared1:  HOW THE HADES DOES A 49 YEAR OLD WOMAN "FORGET" TO FLUSH - ON A REGULAR BASIS?!?!!?!?!? And it's not like no one hasn't said anything to her. All she does, is giggle and say sorry.

Some people are allergic to the air freshener - plus they don't really freshen anything, they just make everything smell nastier!

Do you have a co-worker named Kathleen?
We have a single ladies bathroom here in our office - we had this chick working here for about 4 months, we had to post signs to flush the butt gaskets when done. Gheesh, it was weird.............

Do you work in my office? :lmao:

I have *so* wanted to put signs in our stalls -- Ladies, just please turn around and LOOK before exiting. If you have left anything in the toilet, on the seats, etc., please FLUSH or clean it up yourselves. Ticks me off, big time ....

How about these bathroom-stall signs?....

If you left anything behind, take it with you or FLUSH.

or

If you've left any "gifts" here?
FLUSH.
No one else really wants your leftovers.

I would be very happy if these were also posted in all the parks at WDW! :lmao:

LOL - OMG you are not crazy!!!!!! Everything you mentioned was a problem where I used to work and it used to drive me nuts (former co-workers will attest to this). :rotfl:

It just killed me that these were all ADULT women using the bathroom. Would they leave their bathrooms at home in that condition? HECK NO!! They were all so darn afraid of everone else's cooties and coming into contact with their OWN cooties, but had no problem leaving them in the stall for the next user to deal with.

Rant away OP, RANT AWAY!!!!! :yay:

ITA! I have asthma and I have never had a reaction to a natural body function. Air freshener is a definite trigger though.

Plus, you take the smell of the air freshener WITH you! My room is next to the faculty bathroom. I never smell bathroom odors, but I definitely smell those who waft out of the bathroom on a cloud of air freshener!

I'm sure there will be people coming on saying they LOVE to smell like airfreshener. I'm always amazed on the DIS how many people say they purposely smell like laundry, I'm guessing that there might be people that want everyone they meet in the next 15 minutes or so to know what they've just done in the bathroom!

When I went in to one of our bathroom stalls earlier, there was a "skid mark" on the toilet seat. I always check the seat before and after I use the toilet...but apparently not everyone does! Gaaack.

My husband runs three manufacturing companies that have a lot of Hispanic women working in the factories. Apparently in the areas that they are originally from in Mexico you cannot flush ANYTHING down the toilet, not even toilet paper. Therefore, they did not know that here you can flush paper, and they would always throw used toilet paper on the floor in the corner of the stalls! He had to actually put up signs in the stalls saying PLEASE flush the toilet paper! He felt bad for the women because they honestly didn't know and were trying to do the right thing.

It was totally out of control there for awhile. At one point there was a 2 foot tall pile of used toilet paper in the corner of the stalls! :scared: Fortunately he got it all straightened out and now all is good.

I totally am on board with your rant OP. But I would have also emailed the entire department as well to remind them.

A few years ago we had someone at work who would use the men's room, ignore the flushable toliet seat covers hanging on the wall and instead take toliet paper and very neatly and thoroughly cover the entire toliet seat with toliet paper - and then leave it there when he was through - this went on for months - hasn't happened recently so either he figured out that toliet paper is flushable or he left the company.

I've got a product for all of y'all:

It totally works and doesn't cause the asthma issues that the sprays do (I have asthma, so I know what you're saying)...it's terribly expensive though...

:teeth:

I don't know if I'd call throwing poop covered TP in the corner of a room trying to do the right thing!!! Do thay do that in their homes???? I doubt it! Thats just plain nasty!!!!

I agree. I hate air fresheners. They almost always make me gag and makes it difficult to breathe. Plus, I can't risk getting any of it on my skin or I break out in itchy rashes.
