Hurricane Frances Update - Royal Caribbean

Miami - September 1, 2004 - 6:30 p.m. - Royal Caribbean International is closely monitoring the path and progress of Hurricane Frances to ensure our guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises and to make certain our ships steer clear of the storm.

The safety and comfort of our guests are always the foremost concern of Royal Caribbean International.

We will update our Hurricane Frances information three times daily as the storm approaches - at 9:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Given Hurricane Frances' current and projected path, we are currently altering the itineraries of six Royal Caribbean International ships:
Grandeur of the Seas will reverse its itinerary for its August 29 sailing. On Tuesday, it will call in Nassau, Bahamas, and on Wednesday, it will call at Freeport, Bahamas. The ship will not make its normal port call at Port Canaveral, Florida, on Thursday. Instead, it will make a port call in Charleston, South Carolina, on Thursday.

Navigator of the Seas will not make its normal port calls at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, on Tuesday, San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Wednesday, and Labadee, Hispaniola, on Thursday. Instead, the ship will make a port calls at St. John, Antigua, on Tuesday, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, on Wednesday, and remain at sea on Thursday.

Adventure of the Seas will not make its normal port call at Philipsburg, St. Maarten, on Tuesday. Instead, the ship will spend Tuesday at sea and make a port call at Philipsburg, St Maarten, on Saturday.

Majesty of the Seas will not make its normal port call at Coco Cay, Bahamas, on Wednesday. Instead, the ship will make a port call at Freeport, Bahamas, on Wednesday.

Majesty of the Seas will not make its normal port call at Key West, Florida, on Thursday. Instead, the ship will end its current cruise one day earlier than normal, returning to the Port of Miami on Thursday morning at approximately 7 a.m.

Sovereign of the Seas will end its current cruise one day earlier than normal, returning to Port Canaveral on Thursday at approximately noon.

Voyager of the Seas will not make its normal port call at Freeport, Bahamas, on Friday. Instead, the ship will make a port call at Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Thursday, and spend the day at sea on Friday.
At this time, all other Royal Caribbean International ships are sailing their normal itineraries. We will continue to closely monitor the storm and update this information at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Way back in 2000 on our cruise there was residual damage from some fall of 99 hurricane and the ships were having to dock backwards at Castaway Cay. It was windy on our day and we couldn't stop there and got a day at sea instead. Just thinking if CC takes this direct hit, it will be a long time before anyone gets back there.

Be safe Lisa loves Pooh! You've been a wealth of information and constant support to this thread. Thank you so much!:grouphug:

They're closing our schools here in Collier County at 12:10 today and they're closed tomorrow as well. Our local stations are showing it hitting closer into Florida, southeast Florida. I do see all the official maps have lowered their projected impact area as well.
PLease pray for those in it's path who have already gone through Charley as they've already lost so much.

My first time posting anything and I have a question about DCL and that is, will they reimburse us if the cruise does not happen? We are scheduled to leave on the Wonder the 5th and it is not looking good.

We live in Sarasota County and I'm getting a little nervous about the track of this thing. We are hearing that it may come more south and come across the state, NOT what we need.:(

Thanks to all of you that are keeping up with the current situations. It is really hard to have to sit here and wait to see what happens~

they've never cancelled a cruise due to weather .. it might disembark/embark from a different port though (i.e. Tampa) .. so don't count on getting reimbursed (another reason why I'm such a huge fan of travel insurance) unless every single port in the whole state of FL is shut down.

All the ports on the east coast of Florida are closed. The only other port on the west coast is Tampa and most of the newer and larger cruise ships can not make it under the Skyway Bridge to reach the port. I'm sure the Magic is going to fall under this as well.
