Lisa, Carolyn, and everyone else in Fl - I am praying for you. This is unbelievable - you guys need a break.

For everyone cruising - I am sorry that this is happening. Please consider carefully how much you really want to go to Florida in the next few days. It doesn't look like the area will be safe at all. Please be careful!

Well- I just called Midwest Airlines and they told me that if I was to change my flight it would cost $152 per ticket! WOW! And I would have to add another day with my rental car for $50. I would get the hotel nights free through frequent hotel stays. i would also need extra money for food, gas and misc. Maybe I should just stay with what I have scheduled. Who knows what to do. I think I will go and have a nice big glass of wine. Anyone else for a nice big glass of wine???:)

Oh yeah...I'll take a glass!

I called Delta earlier to inquire about an earlier Friday flight - we have a flight on Friday evening. They said if I call 3 hours prior to an earlier Friday flight, I can see if there are openings and pay $25 per person to switch our flight times that day.

That would mean switching to a flight arriving in Orlando at 11:30PM to a flight arriving at @ 6:00PM. I'm thinking those 6 hours or so may be worth it.

Hi there - well Brevard county is in a panic - the stores are full - I went over to Walmart today to pick up dog food and a lady with a cart full of hurricane stuff almost ran me over - she didn't even look back - the lines were long - Norm went to get the truck gased up and the lines were long there also - businesses are beginning to board up - Norm and I will be doing that on Thursday - IF THINGS DON'T CHANGE (but I guess I am still believing it will) we will be leaving either Friday or Saturday morning - It is predicted it will hit between Brevard and Volusia county by 2pm on Saturday - first time Norm and I ever have left home but hurricanes are much different from when we were kids
and we are 5 stories high in our condo - I still have a strong belief that we will do alright with Francis - I still remember floyd in 1999 - listen if anyone is here within the next few days and Norm or I can be of any help - call us at 800-950-4559 - I will be forwarding the phone to my cell -
Anyhow keep the faith -
Always
Shirley

Lisa loves Pooh,

I am:rotfl: at that post about hurricane preparations! great one!
It could be reworked with just a bit of tweaking for those of us up north when preparing for a snow storm! The last minute-itis failed to mention those who go to the store for milk and bread (they don't drink milk and only use bread for toast occasionally) and wander up and down the aisles looking at everything but buying very little. It becomes an excuse for getting out!
:rotfl:
I am on the 9/11 Magic. I don't want to worry yet about what residual effects will still be around next week!
I am praying that Frances takes a sharp turn in direction or down in strength so that the many people still recovering from Charley don't get hit again!:wave2:
Or maybe we could just :space: Florida away for awhile until Frances goes away!::yes::

The column was unattributed, but as a big fan of Dave Barry, it just HAD to be one of his columns! :)

on hold with dcl right now, gave them the wrong hotel info, while ago, and now i'm trying to get it right.

i called the comfort inn and suites and found out that we didn't have ressies there, so i called choice and found out that we were at the quality suites, but comfort told me they were closing down thurs and fri, quality said that they wouldn't make that call til thurs., so it looks like we will be sailing from tampa, as i stated before to the guys that are driving, how will it work if they sail from tampa and you park there and then they sail back to pc and your parked on the other side of the state?

i have just asked that q of cm and am awaiting answer now. she that they will formulate a plan once the decision has been made on change of ports.

Sorry about the failure of notating the author--it was forwarded to me in an e-mial and I copied and pasted here....

Here is the 8pm 8/31 advisory...
Frances is now tracking northwest-but she would still have to do that to hit florida :( She needs a more northerly turn.

I am there with the wine!!! We are all on pins and needles about this. Just think, they have never ever ever cancelled a cruise before and look, here we are!!! Who knows what to do. I just wish DCL would make a decision in a reasonable amount of time so we can all at least know what we're doing.
Hopefuylly though, see you on the ship (and I will have a glass of wine in hand).

I'm having 2 glasses of wine (how naughty of me on my south beach diet!!!!).

I am doing the laundry and watching Big Brother and Amazing Race and will await todays voting results in our primary election. Nothing like clean laundry in a power outage!

Ugghhh---the computer model now shows only 2 lines--one slamming central florida and one slamming south carolina. Anybody taking wagers--we can raise money for cancellation fees (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist)

Well, we're screwed either way. We have a house in Garden City, Sc (just south of Myrtle Beach) and we live in Columbia, SC. So, we come down to the hurricane, or we go on the cruise and one of our houses gets slammed. HUM -what to think???
Anyway, I want to get on the boat. Hope to see you soon,
Karen

Shirley, be careful. People got crazy over here right prior to Charley, it was amazing. I had to call the cops on some guy shoving everyone around filling up with gas at Costco. I guess being frightened brings out the worst in some people. Take care and I'll be thinking of all of you over on that coast. I'm going to have my cousins come here from Jupiter if they will.

I feel the same way! We live in Ft. Myers, which is just starting to get back to normal. We own a condo in Miami and I'm supposed to be cruisng Sunday.
PLEASE PASS THE WINE................................

Ok- I had the glas of wine and I don't feel any better. Maybe I need to drink more. So instead of drinking more I ate a bunch of carbs!!! I have been on Atkins for so darn long now that I want to eat everything in my path! I am sure that it is stress! I am also getting everything together to close on my house --while we are on our trip! How crazy! We will not even be at our own closing! One step at a time.
Well, I think we will try to fly stand by on Friday am. It is so much to change the ticket! I am glad that we are all in on this together!!! By the way- who will be on the Sept. 5 Wonder?

We are supposed to leave Thurs 9/2 on the 3 day cruise - and we don't know what to do either! We live in CHarleston, SC and I can't leave tomorrow thinking the hurricane might come here while I'm cruising! And we don't want to get caught up in the after Hurricane mess coming home on Sunday. I can't imagine it would be that great of a cruise with no port stops and possibe rough seas. Any thoughts? I hate missing Castaway Cay. Do they let you reschedule if the cruise is not canceled?
My kids are crushed!

Well folks...this is my last post. I leave here at 5 am tomorrow. I don't think I will be getting internet access while in Disney World, but I will be calling DCL often. To all of you traveling and are in the track of the storm....I will be praying for you all and no matter what.....PLEASE KEEP SAFE!

See you on the cruise.

Travis
