Offical FlashFoward Thread-Spoilers Possible

I'm really enjoying this series so far. I can't wait to see the new episodes in March. With Lost coming to an end after this season and V not being so good, it's nice to know there is a new series that is well written and addicting. Hopefully it will be on for more seasons.

They don't. They recognize that viewers tend to not watch episodes consistently in December, due to the holidays, and that is unacceptable for a show with a strong story-arc, such as Flash Forward. So there is no logic in presenting the show until at least January.

The Winter Olympic Games will be held February 12-28, 2010. This is event television in the extreme, and there will be especial interest this time because the games are being held on the continent. It is even more optimal, for the broadcaster of the games, because the games are in the Pacific time zone, which means that many premiere medal events can be carried live all over the continent. Again, there is no logic in presenting a show with a strong story-arc, like Flash Forward, when so many of its viewers will be distracted by the spectacle of the Olympic Games.

Swiping the show on and off air, off in December, on in January, off in February, on in March, is also incompatible with the concept of a show with a strong story-arc.

Essentially, all these inescapable realities means that the very best approach to presenting Flash Forward involves putting it on hiatus until the show can be broadcast for a reasonably extended period of time, and that means pushing the next episode out until after the Olympic Games.

Which is exactly what ABC is doing.

A lot of people complain that this is what killed similar shows in the past, like Jericho. However, note that those people never seem to have any proof that the alternative would have been better for the show. There is no reason to believe it would have been.

It is very possible that the nature of today's television viewer is incompatible with shows with strong story-arc.

I get what they're doing--but I hate the Olympics. I won't be watching them. So I'll be watching other stuff on cable stations.

You do know that this years Olympics are being held in parallel dimensions. Today's greats will be competing against past Olympic champions. It may be worth a look, if for nothing else, than to se a random polar bear or kangaroo hopping along the snowy mountainside during the downhill skiing event.

Yup, us too. And it really sucks for ABC because, of course, they're not airing the Olympic Games -- NBC is -- but ABC is still subjected to the effects of NBC's airing of them.

I was losing interest in flashfoward..too much FBI nonsense going on!:rotfl:...But I really enjoyed the last epi...the other worlds theory has peaked my interest:)

Sad its not on till march......especially as my fave Dexter (been a GREAT season)..is coming to an end..:sad1:

Hope lost is back soon...can't wait!

Bumping this thread...

Folks, y'gotta get your friends to watch FlashForward if you want it to be renewed. During November sweeps, FlashForward drifted down below 8 million viewers. The same exact thing happened, on the same network, with a similar show, one year earlier: Life on Mars drifted down below 8 million viewers during November sweeps 2008. It was not renewed.

I was afraid of this. One of the reasons I usually don't watch shows like this.

.
More big early announcements this morning. Chuck and 'V' have both been renewed (for 13 episodes each). FlashForward and Romantically Challenged, Scrubs, and Better Off Ted are canceled.

Truly. I would have been shocked if FF was renewed.
