Hi All!

I put an offer in through TSS and it was accepted!

Thank you all for your help and patience! :goodvibes Though I am sure I'll need more help!

I was watching the DVC DVD and three questions popped in my head.

1.) The DVD said the points do not change year to year. Does that mean that since I am buying in 2009, I follow the 2009 chart every year? And those who buy in 2010 use points on that chart? Not sure what the pointologist meant by that...

2.) If we were staying Sunday- Saturday Leaving Saturday, are we charged points for Saturday?

3.) If you have 100 points and to book at a resort is 110, instead of borrowing points, can you just pay for the remaining 10? If so how?

1. The total points for the resort don't change (unless they add to the resort), but the particular points needed for a particular room for a particular night can change and do change every year. For example, disney may find one year that demand for a BWV preferred view was too low, and everyone was requesting standard view. To accomodate this, they may the next year reduce the number of points to stay at preferred. As a result, they will need to increase the points to stay at standard. So, no, the 2009 charts will not stay as your charts. If you want to get a sense of how the points change year to year look at any resort's 2009 and 2010 chart and you'll see that some stuff is higher and some is lower from year to year. The key is that the overall number of points stays the same.

2. You are charged for each night you stay, so a Sunday to Saturday is charged as 5 weekdays and 1 weekend, pointswise.

3. You can, if available, pay for a night with cash, but only in whole night increments and only if available. So if you want a 5 night stay at 30 points per night, and you have 140 points, your options would be to borrow points, get someone to transfer you 10 points, or use 120 points for 4 nights and pay for one night with cash.

1) - The total points at each resort cannot change, but the points can be reallocated by raising some nights and lowering others. The points were reallocated in 1996 at OKW and then again beginning in 2010. Members are governed by the point charts in place for the dates of their reservation. If you plan a trip in 2009, you would use the 2009 point chart. Trips in 2010 will use the 2010 point chart. (Again, there were no changes from 1991 -1995 and again from 1996 thru 2009.)

2) - No, you would be charged for points from Sunday thru Friday night - Saturday is your checkout day and you would noit be charged unless you plan to stay beyond 11:00am on Saturday.

3) - No, you can only use points to reserve whole nights. If you are a few points short for a nights stay you would need to borrow or pay cash for that night.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks! OKW is our new "Home" that is if everything goes through ok...

I guess I still don't understand this resort total point thing. How do you know what OKW total resort points are? Will this effect me in any way?

The best way to answer your question would be to look at the point charts. Follow the link to the point charts under the blue heron at the top of this page. Compare the 2009 OKW point chart to the 2010 OKW point chart.

You'll see that some nights have gone up, and some nights have gone down. This is the second re-allocation in OKWs history. The first occurred in 1996. So yes, it is possible for points on a given night to change, but the entire chart must balance out for the year.

The total number of points needed to reserve the entire resort for a year can not change. Points can, as you see, be re-arranged within the chart.

Compare those charts to the original 1991 to 1995 OKW point chart below:
