Sometimes life is just what you want it to be
Last September we found a house that we loved. It was a short sale, but it was "practically perfect in every way". 2,500 square feet, two acres, off the beaten track, near a major road, an in-law suite that Jim & I could use for offices, a deck where I could have coffee in the morning with no neightbors in sight, just wildlife and a room for my Mom, and this was all on one floor. Well as I said it was a short sale so we put the offer in around the 3rd week of September, and waited and waited and waited. Finally they came back in February and had the property appraised. they countered, we countered and they countered again and we were very far apart. Since it needed a new septic, we refused to go any higher, so we walked away. In the latter part of March they came back to us and asked us if we were still interested. Since we hadn't seen anything else we liked, we said yes. We put an offer in (less than we originally bid so we would have wiggle room) and waited and waited and waited. They finally told us we would get an answer the last week in June, the first week of July. Both weeks came and went and we were resigned to receiving another no. Now during this whole process we continued to look at houses to see if we found a back up house in case this one didn't go through. Nothing compared, this was our dream house and we were preparing to hear no, one more time.
Today we heard. They accepted our offer, no negotiation, no counters, accepted the offer we put in. We make settlement 8/15.
Now the good news is Jim is in an Occupational Therapy Assistant program. He finishes in 2 1/2 weeks. If we got the house last year I would have had to cover it on my salary alone as Jim is a full time student. As Jim finishes soon, he takes his certification exam in August, we go to Disney the first week of September and he starts a new job in September. So it all worked out for the best.
Obviously I will be spending the next month packing and planning so I will have limited time on the boards. I was planning some new DISigns, but they will wait until I get in the new house. I will finish up any outstanding requests, but not take on anything new (except for name changes).
So thank you for letting me shout my news to the roof tops.
