Off topic challenge, come inside!!!

My friend moved out of SoCal and now lives up near the Jelly Belly factory. When I went to visit her, we toured the factory. They also sell big pound bags of "belly flops" that didn't turn out well in the factory. They are really cheap.

My kids loved it when she came to visit.

All this popcorn and jellybean talke reminds me I have to go to the dentist. He wants me to get braces. Braces at 49, I think I would rather get dentures.

The McD's up the road did a remodel. They now have 2 order lanes, 4 self order kiosks and 3 registers. Then there's a screen showing orders pending and orders serving!
And now they put whipped cream and a cherry on shakes. Still the same premix shakes though.

According to my dh Burger King has better shakes than McD's even without the whipped cream and cherry.

Mentioning chips and salsa makes me want to get the secret menu nachos at Pecos Bills. My trip this month is only two of us. So - unless we want to find some strangers to double-dip with - it's probably not happening. Three of us are going in May, but two of the three eat like birds. I am hoping to drag my older daughter's boyfriend along with the 4 of us in December - then we stand a chance.

did you know that Pecos Bill stories were first published in 1917?

No - but I did enjoy the movie Tall Tale - which was based on Pecos Bill. Patrick Swayze was in it. Another movie that he was in - Dirty Dancing - is one that I didn't like. I will now run for cover.

Trivia time:

Patrick Swayze initially hated the line "Nobody puts Baby in the corner!" He thought it was corny, and tried to convince the writers to take it out. But after seeing the final cut, he reluctantly had to admit it worked. And years later, when he was fighting cancer, he used to say, "Nobody puts Patrick's pancreas in the corner!"

DawnM - if you search dirty nachos, don't do an image search. I am hoping we are talking about the food version.

Moving things along - I am working on my taxes, and it is making me want to cry.

That is kind of why I was asking. I googled and thankfully didn't pull up images, but yikes! I didn't see anything about a food version so I was hoping I was wrong and it is indeed a food.

Taxes, such fun!

OMG!!! I am so sorry. :sad1: I had Dirty Nachos at a Super Bowl Party. I was told they were dirty because they used
some type of rice. Here this the recipe I was given. This is the recipe I was given.
asy Nachos
1 package Zataran's dirty rice
1 pound ground beef/ground turkey
1 can diced tomatos
1 can black beans
1 can green chiles
and any other things you like on your nachos
Boil Zataran's dirty rice mix according to package directions. Brown ground beef/turkey and drain of excess grease. When dirty rice mix is done, add beef/turkey to it. Add tomatos, beans, chiles, etc. Mix and heat over medium heat until heated through. Server over chips or scoops with cheese and sour cream. Makes delicious and easy nachos.

Sorry for the mix up
:tilt:

I remember the days when Woolworth's had a cafe/soda shop in it. I used to go there sometimes, even into the late 80s during college.

Do any department stores have restaurants or cafes anymore? I know some have a coffee and pastry place just outside, but I haven't seen a real eating place in decades.

Nordstrom has cafes I think. I've never eaten there. I think they are kind of FANCY.

When my daughter was younger, she never could remember the name of the ride in Epcot as Maelstrom. She always called it Nordstrom and the name stuck ever since.

Nice! We have a few similar ones around here. My oldest read IKEA as IEKA (Aye-EEk-A) when we were driving by. We still call it that. My youngest came home from preschool one day and told us that they had learned all about the Juicy people. When I asked her who the Juicy people were, she told me that they have hanukkah instead of Christmas. We still use that one, too.

I LOVE THAT! when our daughter was about four, she came home and said they learned a song all about CONFIDENCE! You know the CONFIDENCE? Asia, Africa, North and South America, Europe, Australia, Antarctica
