...being from CA, I don't usually have to deal with humidity on a regular basis...however, when I do, my natural semi-curly hair goes crazy! :cool1:
anyone have any hair product suggestions for calming down frize and curl in natural curly hair in humidity?!

I have permed hair. I used a product by John Frieda called (I think) Beach Blond. It is usually in the "blonde" stuff by Frieda, but it can be used on everyone. The trick is it has sea salt and some sort of oil in it (smells wonderful...kind of like suntan oil). It adds texture and keeps the curl from frizzing pretty well. Best of all, when it gets wet on Splash Mountain, it still looks okay.

I too have curly hair, I blow dry it straight everyday. We went to Disney last month, packed all my products, and guess what? I wore a pontytail everyday! :rotfl: It just wasn't worth all that time and effort.

thanks for the ideas...unfortunately blow-drying my hair straight doesn't help...it curls, curls, curls! :earseek: So, I need to get a non-friz product.

I have curly hair and the ONLY thing that works at Disney is my Chi Ionic Hair Iron. Kind of expensive at $150, but it works wonders ( I use it here in Salt Lake City too). It "seals" your hair and keeps humidity out - not water like if you got splashed, but general humidity. My first few WDW trips after buying it were the ONLY times my pictures looked decent!!!

I too have curly/wavy hair. I live in NE and deal with the humidity every summer.

I usually wear my hair up all summer but still put something in to decrease the frizz.

I use a variety of shampoos/conditioners and products for frizz. I use these products throughout the year.

I use one of the following:
Back to Basic's -- Basic Style Sleek Creame (Straightner -- It's a creme in a grey tube)
All Nutrient -- Gel + and Straight +
Paul Mitchell -- Straight Works and Gel

I like the All Nutrient stuff the best. I think it controls the frizzy's better.

I have straight hair but when I had a perm, I used Frieda products. They worked great. Even with straight hair, when it's humid my hair gets some waves and curls in it especially in the front. I use Big Sexy hair root pump with humidity control. It works really good. They have a whole line for straight, curly, etc. They are in red cans.
And on days when it's too hot, ponytail's the way to go. :goodvibes

I'm in New England too and I have naturally wavy hair that frizzes with even the least amount of humidity. This is the time of year when I can't do anything with it. I just bought Frizz Ease Dream Curls in a spray bottle and that seems to work pretty well to minimize the frizz. I also use BioSilk which works pretty well too. For our trip to WDW this August, I figure I'll just put in a ponytail and throw on a hat during the day and forget about it.

Coming from the hot humid summers of Chicago, I've perfected this to an art! :rotfl: My hair will frizz at the slightest chance of humidity, so I've tried just about everything. I am one to also blow dry it straight, but in the summer, it just isn't worth the time, since it goes to curly as soon as I walk out the door. :earseek:

I dont' really worry about the shampoo I use, but it's the product I put in my hair while I'm styling it. I use Frizz Ease Hair Serum (There are 2 kinds, I get the extra strength in the purple bottle) and then I also use Infusium Leave-In Conditioner. The trick is to put the product in while your hair is still damp. So, before I even comb out my hair from the shower, I put on the Infusuim (also helps with the tangles!) then I put about 5-6 pumps of Frizz Ease into my hair, and work it into my whole head. I usually scrunch my hair while I'm blowing it dry, and it takes less than 10 minutes. After it's dry, I smooth on 2 more pumps of Frizz Ease and I'm out the door. I apply these products the same way wether I do my hair straight or curly, and the frizz is pretty tamed.

I have had many compliments on when I let my hair just do what it wants and wear it curly, even though I like it straight. The curly is definitely the way to go in the summer, and if you want to put it up in a messy ponytail, all the better to keep you cool. Besides - who at Disney isn't going to be dealing with the same thing? The humidity there is so crazy, everyone will have frizzy hair, or wet messy hair from the rides, so you won't look too out of place, and it will all be in the name of having a good time with the mouse! :smooth: :earsgirl:

Good Luck! :cool1:

I moved from CA to Louisiana. I don't worry about the Frizz anymore on my cury hair. You are usually sweating so much in the humidity it doesn't matter what you do with it. Just go with the flow - lol

I too have natural curly hair. Once at Mijhers I found a $4.00 staightning perm. All the different packets lasts for months. My DD16 also bought a great straightning iron in Florida. It kills my mom seeing me with straight hair. But no friiiiiiizzz. I love  it and when in the states I always pick up more perm.
