We are eagerly awaiting our Christmas visit in less than a month but am quite nervous about my picker eating son. We have several ADRs that have nothing on the menu that he will eat (ck nuggets, grilled cheese, quesadillas, plain pb sandwich). Don't flame me for having a picky son- we have tried for YEARS to get him to expand.

My question is this- can I call ahead and try to get something off menu for him to eat sent to the restaurant? Otherwise, I am totally burning his DDP on nothing but bread and butter.

Thanks!

The restaurants are generally pretty good about special dietary needs - just ask your server once you sit down at your table, and the staff will try their best to make something he would enjoy.

I am planning on having a garden grocer delivery to our room. I will be bringing PB with us and ordering bread and other items. I will make sure that I make a PB sandwich to carry in my backpack at all times as my DD6 is also very picky. I am not worried about wasting her dining plan since it was free anyhow. I am hoping that they will be able to accomodate her as much as possible. A simple grilled cheese sandwich will do. I did make as many ADRs to accomodate her likes though!!!! I think she will really like Ohanas and several other ADRs that I made.

I have found that several of the restaurants will accomodate a child that is picky (yes, mine sound just like yours). Some have a small amount of "kid friendly items" if you ask (such as O'hana we have learned that mac and cheese and chicken are possibilities). Others have managed to find something that mine would eat (i.e. plain pasta). Since you are going at Christmas, which is extremely busy, I would recommend that you call ahead and ask if they can accomodate you. Since you have your ADR booked, they should be able to note your reservation to have something special for your child, similar to allergy and vegan requests. You may just have to 'pre-order' your kids food, but given how picky he/she is, that shouldn't be an issue since their selections are already limited.

Enjoy!

I have one of those too. Every restaurant we went to was very flexible, especially the signature restaurants. One waitress put it this way.... after I asked for some different foods not on the menu -- she said, "if he (my son) is happy, we are happy". And I thought to myself.... if my son is happy, you will get a bigger tip!

My son loves strawberries, not the melon and grapes usually served for dessert. Whenever we wanted strawberries, they brought a bowl -- and they were good too. We also asked for bowls of peas -- weird I know, 4 yr old liking peas. And french fries. And pasta even though not on the child or adult menus. Buffets are always easy and there's plenty of them.

My son does have an egg allergy so we met the chef at each meal and there was certain flexibility with menus because of that... but they were flexible with other items and I'm sure they would do it even if there was no allergy.

Hey, for 2 DDP credits at a signature restaurant, they ought to be flexible..... And especially with a 20% tip for 2 adults and 1 child adding up to near $50.

Ask and expect flexibility and great service.

I won't flame you at all, my kids are picky eaters as well, and it is not for lack of trying to get them to eat something else. My favorite places to eat were the buffets at 1900 PF and Crystal Palace. Both have Cheese Pizza and Chicken nuggets, as well as lots of fresh fruit and of course lots of options for the parents. Most of the other restaurants are very accommodating as well. Ohana's had a broad range of choices for kids including mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, hot dogs or PB and J. Hoop de doo had mac and cheese and PB and J.

I also did a Garden Grocer order for staples that I knew they would eat.

With the sole exception of V&A, all the WDW restaurants have a kids menu that offer things that even picky children will eat.

I must have read the OP as different. I looked at it as the child wouldn't eat the nuggets/MnC/PB&J/etc.

If the case is, that is all he will eat, how can you not find that stuff on the menus? I am having the opposite difficulty in that my kids won't eat that stuff for dinner and I'm having trouble choosing a dining other than buffets that they can eat at without getting stuck with the kiddie food that they won't eat.

Unfortunately, several of the menus of the ADRs we have do not have anything he will eat (50's PTC, WCC, Ohana's). So it is nice to hear that I can call ahead and get him something he will eat. Looks like it will be chicken nuggets all week- he'll be in heaven!! :woohoo:
