"Off the Map" Tour for D23 Members

Seeing the excitment on various Disney Fan sites, it's not suprising they went quick. With the plus 1 tickets, it wasn't very many spots for the amount of chatter about the event.

Disney D23

We're excited about the enthusiastic response for our Disneyland Off The Map event and appreciate your feedback. These special venues have limited capacity, and we are looking to repeat this event in the future to accommodate more guests. Thanks for your understanding.

Sorry to those that didn't get tickets. To those who did, enjoy and let us know how it was.

I am very happy to hear that some of you got tickets.:thumbsup2 I truly hope that D23 does this event again. I was shocked on how fast it sold out.
All Disney Events go like this not just D23. I was lucky one year and got tickets for the Haunted Mansion Event. I was on the phone with my friend who was trying to get tickets at the same time that I was and we saw the level that I bought go to sold out right before our eyes. She had to quickly go for the next level before it was gone.
Here's a question for you computer/internet savvy people:surfweb:. I am in a very rural area and I get my internet through a satelite (slow). Would I be better off going to a Starbucks with a wireless high speed connection for times like these? There is a Starbuck's about 20 miles from me that I could go to if you think that would better my chances. :tink:

I know of at least 6 people who are going. One person here from Disboards in this thread (with their husband), one person on D23 Facebook (with their wife), and 2 people from MiceChat.

So that's probably 20% of the guests on the tour right there.

Ethan

Several of our Expo Sorcerers group also got tickets. D23 posted on their Facebook page that they were happy with the enthusiasm and will look into offering again.

Tough question but maybe. If your home speed is very slow, a network at McDs or SB may beat it. You might test it out some time.

I have to admit, I'm pretty bummed out today that I can't take my wife to this :(

Thanks so much for your opinion. I have gone to Starbucks before when my server was down and it was really fast. Hey, skiingfast this is not the first time you have helped me out. Thank you buddy! :tink:

It's clearly a case of Who You Know. And I don't Know those people.

No, It's a fair thing with lots of luck involved..and I guess super fast internet connections help too. There were lots of glitches in Sorcerer tickets for the Expo where at first it was sold out, then not..super frustrating. As far as waiting list..they may find a way to add more tickets like they did for Marceline, or with the Sorcerer tickets, which were STRICTLY limited to 50 (and turned out being 100 which worked out fine) and even though they were not refundable and not transferable, they actually could be transferred through D23 and several people on a waiting list got in. Yes, hopefully they will do this again, and not allow anyone to do it more than once until demand is met.

Very well put Nunzia. I have friends that got tickets. Definitely not "connected".
As far as the waiting list. I know of one person that got to the registration page, she was entering her CC number when her Son called and said he got the tickets. So she cancelled and logged off. That would leave the tickets she was about to buy available. I'm sure there are other scenarios like this one that would make tickets available.
The amount of tickets sold for this had to be a very small number. The apartment is not that large, and a large group could really leave a nasty footprint.
I also believe that this process is fair. I remember the days when the amount of tickets purchased were not limited and transferable. The tickets would sell out so fast only to be for sale at a much higher price, like on e-bay.
Disney does a wonderful job with these events. The proof is in all of us, or why would we keep coming back. :tink:

Update: it seems as though the dinner WAS at Club 33 according to this Twitter stream by @DininginDisney (of www.disneyfoodblog.com).

It also included a wine pairing and some swag, along with the tour of Walt's Apartment, the Lilly Belle, and the Dream Suite. Looks like a fun time! Rumor is the tickets were limited to 72 people and it sold out in 30 seconds. :scared1:

Yes the dinner was at Club 33. I got a message from a lucky friend that was one of the 72 folks that got a ticket. Can't wait to see pictures! :tink:

Did they have to sit in the Trophy Room? ::sticks nose in the air:: ;)
