Hey all! First-time poster and excited to be here.

My fiance and I will tie the knot June 15, 2012. We'll be having the ceremony at Shades of Green, with 16 people total. What we're wondering is what are some good restaurants around the Disney World area that aren't on-site? Just looking for recommendations so we can check them out and make reservations ahead of time since it'll be peak Disney-going season.

Thanks!

That type of food are you looking for?

Steakhouse

Shula's Steakhouse - http://www.swandolphinrestaurants.com/shulas/.

French

Maison & Jardin in Alamonte Springs - http://www.maisonjardin.com/

Italian

Christini in Orlando - http://www.christinis.com/

Another option would be Chathams - http://www.chathamsplace.com/

Just a few ideas

Do you mean completely off site? If not, the Swan & Dolphin have nice options (they aren't owned by Disney). Most have private or semi-private rooms that can be used (but you have to meet a minimum based on how many rooms you'll be using). We're using Il Mulino. There is also the Bluezoo, Shulas, and Kimonos. All of these places aren't open til 5pm but there are lunch restaurants @ The swan/dolphin too. They are a little more casual and the cost would be lower. You can see more here: http://www.swandolphinrestaurants.com/

Then you have some restaurants at Downtown Disney that aren't owned by Disney. Some we looked into were: Fulton's crab house, Portobello, Paradiso 37, and Raglan road. You can see more about each here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/destinations/downtown-disney/dining/

Thanks for the suggestions!

As far as the fare goes, a place that offers a bit of everything. We'll have some older folks with special diatery needs, and five children on the list.

I'll check out these places. I'm glad some eateries in Downtown Disney aren't owned by Disney, that'll be a prime place to eat at.
