off site place with washer

Suggestions please.
We have an onsite Universal stay and an onsite WDW stay as part of a larger trip we want so spend a week around I-drive doing Seaworld, relaxing at the hotel/resort, shopping etc.

I was thinking of staying at Surfside at Universal but would I think prefer us to have a place with a washer/dryer in the room if possible as this is a month long trip and dragging our stuff to the laundry room all the time is annoying. We won't be renting a car so will be relying on our legs or ride share.
Kids are 9 and 6 and we have a portable booster for the 6yo for Ride share.

Can anyone suggest anywhere? our budget is qutie low as the Aussie Dollar isn't doing us any favours. Would prefer under US$250 a night, dates will be May 10-16 2025 roughly.

Was looking at Sheraton Vistana Villages or Drury Universal, Drury doesn't have a great looking pool area - I know the kids will want to spend a lot of time at the pool so would love a "resort style" pool if we can.
I don't want anything too out of the way due to not having a car, ease of access to Seaworld, DC and Aquatica would be good as we will be doing those parks during this week.

I don’t know what the prices are like, but in addition to the ones you’ve mentioned, look at the other timeshare properties in that area - Marriott Sabal Palms, Royal Palms and Imperial Palms; Hilton Vacation Club Grand Beach Orlando; Sheraton Vistana Resort (different from Villages); Hilton Grand Vacations Club Tuscany Village all have multi bedroom units with washers and dryers.

Drury by Universal doesn’t have washer/dryer in the room. It’s also on the western side of I4 on Sand Lake Road which is a busy intersection. Plus up by Universal and not further south by Seaworld. The Disney Springs Drury has a much nicer pool and dining area for the free breakfast and kickback. I have stayed at both locations.

Thanks, will the "timeshare" aspect be an issue? I don't want to be harrassed while on vacation about buying a timeshare or attending a preview.

They have activities, dining, etc. When you book direct it is like a hotel, no timeshare requirements. They might ask you at the desk if you are interested in a session but I always say no without issue.


Marriott Vacation Club Harbour Lake is VERY close to SW, DC & Aquatica. Young families seem to really enjoy their pool. It is Key West in style and the pool has a pirate ship, slides and lots of play area. Completely resort style.

A few years ago we stayed at the Hilton Vacation Club that's almost right across I-4 from Disney Springs - next to the outlet mall. I remember being pleasantly surprised at the nightly rate. Very nice rooms and amenities.

As @HopperFan says, if you book through their website as if booking a hotel, they won't push for a timeshare sales session. If they ask, just say No and keep saying NO. And if your spouse is the friendly sort who likes to make other people happy, make sure they're off doing something else when you check in, so they can't try to make you say Yes.

Do you know my DH?

When I do check in to places like Bonnet Creek etc with a tough push I make DH stay in the car. When they ask if I am married I say "yes" but my DH is not here. END OF CONVERSATION by law. Well technically he wasn't there, he was outside.

Why not stay in Australia & visit other parts where you have not seen before

I have driven from Brisbane To Sydney & back ( Burnett Hwy )
Did a Boat tour to Lady Musgrave Island

There MUST be Theme Parks somewhere In Australia

OR go to New Zealand

I live local to Orlando and always suggest Floridays Resort on I-Drive just past Seaworld. It's in a great location, has a gorgeous pool, and a fully equipped kitchen with a stacked washer/dryer. The onsite dining is very good, especially the pool bar. Plus, the proximity to Disney Springs is a major plus. And there is a Publix grocery store about 1 block away so groceries, drinks are easily available.

They offer 2 or 3 BR suites. This is our resort of choice if we're doing an offsite staycation going on almost 20 years now.

Their pricing is usually very competitive.

I haven't used that particular approach, but I did once (truthfully) explain that I was in the midst of a divorce and could not buy anything until after we'd reached a settlement. The body snatcher was very kind.

not sure why I need to explain myself, but you can see that I travel to the USA often, we used to go yearly but don't anymore due to cost.
In over a dozen trips I've never rented a car and have no need to and never felt I needed to. Uber is a fantastic tool and before that we used the bus.

Australian theme parks are horrid and overpriced. I have no interest in going to New Zealand and I've seen enough of Australia, I've been to almost every state here and done enough in my own country to keep me satisfied. I've also travelled to Europe, Japan and the Pacific Islands.
