I am looking for recommendations for off-site motel/hotels at DLR. I have seen the map and can see where they are located. I just wanted to hear some opinions from people who have actually stayed in them and get some actual recommendations. We are a family of 5 and will be at DLR for a week over Christmas this year.:santa: Any help is apprectiated.

TIA

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Aug of 06. Nice enough place. We had 2 room suite with a fridge, microwave and continetal breakfast. Had to use the ART to get back and forth from DL. But it was a nice clean place.

If you go back through the postings you will see lots of threads on this. The popular close hotels here are BWPPI, Tropicanna, Carousel, Camelot and Park Vue. A little further away (10-15min) you have HoJos, CCI and Residence Inn...

We absolutely love Hojo's in the tower rooms. Not a bad walk and great staff. In the tower the rooms are large too!

As Raider Mouse said it depends what your needs are. You can get a great Enertainment Book rate of $59.00 a night at HoJo's. Great deal and for the price you can't beat the hotel. Do you want an indoor pool? December it will be too cold for most to swim outside. Do you want to walk or ride the bus? We have stayd at the Hilton, nice but a bit of a walk and you pay to park. For the money I would always stay at HoJo's if it were summer - nice pools too. In the winter we may look elsewhere. (My DS loves to swim.)

We got a AAA rate of $99 at the Marriott Anaheim Suites for our trip in July. It's a room with 2 queen size beds and a living room with a pull-out sofa. It also has a fridge and microwave. Parking is free. It's too far to walk but we were planning to drive anyways to the parks. We have our car as we're driving down from Canada. It would cost $11 to park at the DL lot all day.

I like the location of the Marriott Anaheim Suites. It's in Garden Grove, close to Target where we buy our bottled water supply and the dollar store where I can buy great Disney souvenirs. It's also a short walk to some decent restaurants (Crab Shack, Red Robin, Outback).

Lots of other suite options in that part of Garden Grove/S. Harbor area. There's also Hilton Homewood Suites, Embassy Suites, Residence Inn Anaheim Resort, Hampton Inn and Suites, Hyatt Orange County (their kidsuites). Some charge parking and some don't.

Read tripadvisor reviews on those hotels, and you'll get a good feel for them. Have fun planning!

I know that the crowds can be huge around Christmas, and one of the few ways to survive them is to get to the park early. For us, the best way to do that is to stay at one of the hotels right across the street - kiwitravel mentions them above.

We are a family of five and have stayed several times at the Best Western Park Place Inn. We stay in one of their "mini-suites", which has 2 queen beds and a queen fold-out coach. The place works out great for us, it is worth your time to at least take a look at it and other nearby places.

We stayed at the Motel 6 Maingate last August. It was not anything fancy, but we were only there for swimming and sleeping. We chose to use the ART for transportation and we couldn't be happier with how it worked out. We never waited more than 20 min. for a bus and it takes you to more then just DL. I think we payed $72/night for the hotel. As a matter of fact, we are planning a return trip for June and we are staying at Motel 6.
