Off Site Magic Bands

We are staying off site but would still like to utilize the magic bands. Can someone give me a bit more info on how that works? Where can I order them and how do I link the bands to the tickets?

Everything I can find basically is just info on ordering them when you book your vacation.

You can buy them online at the Disney store, but only the plain ones. I'd recommend just buying some in the parks when you get there so you can see them in person and have more options on designs (if you want more than just plain colors). They have plain colors, open ended editions, and limited editions.

To link...the bands each have a unique code on their underside. Take that code and enter it into your MDE and it's then linked and ready for use.

Only difference between on site bands and off site bands is off site can't charge items to the band and can't open hotel doors with it. Other than that their the same

We were offsite last week and used bands. We had family who went down in February and we asked them to pick up the ones we wanted (Tink, Stitch & Buzz/Woody). I linked them right away and packed them in the bag to make sure they were not forgotten. We have more family going next year and we bought bands for them to use. They are really convenient and kind of fun. We had the characters on our bands sign them!

Yes, there are Star Wars ones. That is one of the ones we brought home!

I got mine from the Disney store. We got plain ones..But I used the magic my band website too decorate them. I also linked mine right away and hopefully all is good!

Yes, there are some Star Wars MB. Just google it. You can also buy a Star Wars skin for your plain MB.

Awesome! Thanks! DH and I agreed that it will be a new tradition- get inside the parks and pick out a new band (we always stay at a rental house because we always go as a big family, as we are all scattered across the US/Canada).

I did some looking around online and it's going to be hard to pick. Since this will be our first MNSSHP I would like to try and get one of the limited edition ones to commemorate it!

Just in case you weren't aware they can be reused. You do not have to buy them each trip.

Oh I didn't realize you could link them ahead of time if staying off site. I was playing with the idea of booking one night at a value on-site so that I could buy 7 day tickets and have it already put on the Magic bands. However, if I could buy the tickets online ahead of time, buy the magic bands online ahead of time, and link them, that seems way easier!

You absolutely can link prior, it is super easy! I bought my tickets through the Official Ticket Center, Nana brought the bands back with her in February. I scanned the plastic cards into MDE (you take a pic basically) then when the bands arrived I plugged the number from the underside into MDE so both were linked to the appropriate people. We had no trouble at all with our bands during the trip, everything went smoothly although I did have the plastic cards in our backpack as a precaution should something go wrong with the bands we never needed them.

I stayed off-site this past spring and I wanted to have magic band BEFORE I went to the parks so I could skip picking my tickets up at guest services (we have special media tickets, but this applies to any ticket)

So - The night before we went to Downtown Disney - the Pen Trader store in the marketplace. To my knowledge this is the only not-in-park magic band retailer. They do have specialized bands as well.

However - Staying off site I had to park in the parking deck... and it is a LONG walk to the marketplace and the pin store. However - it was totally worth it. I connected our tickets to the magic bands the night before and we walked straight into EPCOT the next day!
