Has anyone stayed at one of the Universal area hotels? We are going to the Orlando Informer event in June and the rates are really high for onsite hotels right now.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Across from Universal in 2018. No frills, free parking. Hotel was fine, we were just using it to sleep. We walked or occasionally shuttled to the parks, stayed all day, ate dinner at City Walk, and walked back. Mid-day hotel breaks would be more challenging than at onsite hotels. The walk is safe, landscaped, and takes you to the valet entrance (ie, separate security entrance). We'd stay there again, if onsite wasn't in the budget.

This is probably a stupid question - did you try the special rates for the OI meetup? They may be sold out already but they had some good ones in December.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn on Windhover off of Kirkman couple of years ago. It’s a typical Hampton Inn. First day I walked to Universal but it took about 20 minutes and I was quite sweaty since it’s was middle of summer so just drove and paid to park at parking garages at Citywalk rest of the trip.

I did. they're already sold out.

I recently stayed at the Best Western on Universal Blvd. It was right beside Endless Dockside and we could see Volcano Bay Cabana Bay from our room.

It was clean, quiet, rooms were very spacious, and very easy to get around that area. It does have a pool, and hot tubs. The restaurant is good for a meal when you come back late from the parks, but I didn't like the buffet breakfast. We would stay there again if we had an accumulation of points again. It wasn't on-site but soooooooooo very close and easy to get to the parks when we wanted. Dh books hotels/rooms for his crews when they are working out of town, so we get an accumulation of points or free nights through different sites. Hence we we picked an off-site spot and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Keep checking, we scored HRH last June a few weeks before the event. I would log in daily to the OI site and see what is available or call them, you never know what will come up. People cancel and change plans all.the.time.

I just booked Surfside rooms today for OI in June. I went to the email they sent me and in that there's a tab you press that brings you to another page you press another tab and that brings you to cancelled rooms if any. They still had some Surfside too that I saw . Or you can use the number that's in the email I did that too to add a day I was lucky they had another day. Good luck
