Thanks to everyone who sent a response to my last post!
Every post was helpful. I found some great rates at hotelkingdom.com and I am also considering priceline.com. Doing a little more research before I make a final decision. I was wondering though. I saw where someone else on this board was making a trip and had booked the La Quinta Lakeside. I found the La Quinta Lakeside at hotelmartusa.com for only $40 a night and that says tax included. Has anyone else stayed at this hotel or used hotelmartusa.com ? Good or bad experiences? Thanks. :teeth:

Just got back last week from the La Quinta Lakeside. It's very close to disney, especially if you use the Sherberth road entrance. The rooms were clean, mine was very quiet. Maid service was good. You have to pay a $3.50 resort fee which includes a morning paper, in room safe, free local and 800 calls, pkg coffee refills for the coffee maker and tranportation to the parks. There is a fridge in the room, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer. It's not a fancy place but it is nice enough. But be careful what you ask for you might get it. I asked for a second floor room, non smoking, and near the back so it would be quiet. I got all three, even picked out the location of the room myself. Unfortunately it was on the end near the garbage. Didn't really bother me too much. I didn't spend any time in the room and the smell didn't come into the room. I got it on priceline for $22/night. I would certainly stay there again at that price.

Hi
We have stayed at La Quita Lakeside twice. Last Aug and in 1999 when it was Sheraton four points Lakeside. We found it is a well equipped good budget hotel worth $40/ night but not much more. Last visit the bath tub could have done with a good clean. The Aircon packed in one night but was repaired the following morning no problems. On top of this rate you will have resort tax to pay locally (about $4 a night) includes use of safe, mini golf etc. Lake has run down recently and had little alligator swimming about (had pedaloes on in 99). There maybe better deals about if you look hard enough, we have just booked Homewood suites universal for $38 inc. with Breakfast for Oct.
Hope this helps

if this deal is still availability I would go for it

see if any of the Marriott's are available or better yet a DVC resort - VWL, OKW, BWV or BCV. don't laugh - sometimes DVC resort are availability through II. You will pay a $95 exchange fee to DVC on top of the $250 - but it is worth it.

even with a studio (the lowest at a DVC resort) comes with a microwave and under-the-counter refrigerator - so you can save might alot on food.

especially if she can get you a 2-bedroom

if she can't get a Marriott - ask what she can get and check back before you agree.
