Off-site guests will be able to order and get MagicBands on DisneyStore.com on Monday. This includes all solid color bands, MagicBandits and MagicSliders accessories as well!

FINALLY off-site guests can have their MagicBands ready to go before they arrive! These are "link it later" bands, meaning you'll just add them to your Disney My Experience account yourself when they get to your house.

EDIT: It's Monday and these are now available here: http://www.disneystore.com/magicban...&searchTerm=magicband&catalogFromSearch=10002

I know they've had some MagicBandits available in the past, but I don't recall seeing the sliders before (I know the bands weren't available). It'll be interesting to see what variety of items they'll offer!

From your link: " I have heard on good authority that on Monday, November 7th, 2014, "

Ooops Ethan today Fri is the 7th Monday is the 10th ;)

Good news for the people that ask here about wanting to get them & wrap them for the holidays to surprise the family for a trip :thumbsup2

Question this magic band if purchased would be good forever? Like I can Alwyas load my tickets on this band?

Yep, it will work and you can attach it to any tickets you want. It's not just a "use only for this one trip" type of a thing... it will continue to work.

Well, not exactly forever...it does have an internal battery that will, at some point, die. I've read that the expected battery life is about 2 to 3 years. After the battery dies, the MagicBand won't work anymore. It'll probably still show up on your account, but you wouldn't be able to use it in the parks.

I'm not sure if this is entirely true. I think the battery is only for long-range sensors (like linking ride photos to a band, for example) but short-range should still work.

Some technical details: Basically, FP+ touchpoints and park entry points create a small electromagnetic field that powers on the chip in the band at the time the MagicBand enters into the field. The touchpoint is the power source... there is no need for a battery. It's wireless power. This is called passive NFC technology. Theoretically MagicBands should work forever on short-range touchpoints.

This is pretty cool. I kind of wanted one, but didn't want to fuss with it while we were there. Is it only going to be the solid color ones, do we know?

Interesting point...so the MagicBand itself will work for touchpoint activities (FP+, park entrance, room entrance) after the battery dies, but it might not work forever with the items that do not require touching the band to anything (like ride photos and anything else they come up with).

Yep... just like your park ticket or Annual Pass card can be used without a battery in it if you don't have a MagicBand. Same thing.

Thanks for the heads up. I really wasn't planning to mess with MagicBands since we are offsite and they aren't really necessary, but I think my girls would enjoy having them and it would be nice not to mess with pulling our tickets out for FP entry. I just need to decide if I really want to spend the extra money for that convenience. Still nice to know I can do it ahead of time if I want to. :thumbsup2

The touch points serve as the power source for the RFID chip that's used for park entry, room entry, FP+, touch to pay, etc. This applies to MagicBands and RFID Admission Cards.

Anyone know how much? I'm assuming they won't ship to canada either?

What's the benefit of buying one for offsite guests? Is it just easier to use? Can you link you credit card to it and pay for stuff in the park with the band instead of bringing your wallet?

So just wondering, how will I know when my internal battery dies? will I just stop getting my photos on my band?

No, but I'm assuming the same price as in the parks. I think its around $13 or so.

Only WDW Resort guests can link their credit card during their stay I think. I know it doesn't work with my annual pass.

No one knows.

Credit cards can only be linked to resort room reservations. All charges made using a MB goes to the room account and the account is then charged to the credit card.

It isn't mandatory for an off-site guest to use a MB. Your park ticket will be used at entry and at the FP tap stiles.

Also just important to note... once your reservation is over, the credit card becomes unlinked.
