i am now looking for our 2nd week hotel and noticed some give a price plus a resort fee in dollars payable

will this always be clearly stated when booking , shall i expect to pay a resort fee on any offsite booking i make ?

what is it for ?

will there be any additional fees payable when i check in to port orleans for our disney week ?

 little bit overwhelemed but feel like slowly getting there :)

General rule is if you book direct and pay in $'s then you are liable for the resort fees (usually most expensive way to book)
Book via a UK agent and the price is usually all in, they should tell you if any fees are payable locally but in 30 trips I have never had any to pay.
None should be added at Disney.

thank you

i have a short list so far

calypso cay thru ebookers £232 plus 105 dollars due at check in apparently this has a 12% quidco cback rate today

travelodge suites maingate thru expedia at £138.66 with breakfast included i like this price i cant see anything about resort fees, price wise the lower the better as we still need to get our 3rd week accomodation and car hire and i only have £1000 budget left!!:rotfl2:

or quality suites universal south for £260.68 this is also with expedia and includes breakfast it doesn't say if or how much a resort fee is?

or international palms formerly holiday inn for £212 with complete orlando i like the look of the pool area here

the week im searching is 29th aug to 5th sept 2 adult 3 children 4,5 and 7

You need to look at reviews for these resorts to see if you're comfortable with them.

they all seem to have mixed reviews:confused3 if you know or an reccommend anywhere else with better reviews must be under £275 per week that would be helpful xx

im not planning on spending long in the room

or the americas best inn maingate east with thomas cook or £188 plus cashback

- Excludes applicable local city taxes & resort fees this is from the thomas cook page however it doesnt say how much these taxes or fees are is it a fixed rate or will it vary ??

The Clarion Suites Maingate gets significantly better reviews - £249/week inc breakfast.
Hotels.com has a deal on Best Western Saratoga Premier Villas today, too - great reviews and the villa sleeps 8 - £300/week. May be well worth the extra £25.

There's also 8% Quidco on hotels.com which would bring the Best Western to £276. Not bad for a two bedroom villa with full kitchen, free wifi etc. Apparently the pool is Mickey shaped, if that appeals...!
Same on Expedia if you want the Nectar points too :)

Its all about where you want to stay, personally I would not want Idrive or as far out as Travelodge Suites Maingate (nowhere near Maingate IMO)

Once you decide on location read the reviews. There are a few on Alpharooms like this: Total price: £224.99 for the Extended Stay Deluxe Lake Buena Vista. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...Orlando_Lake_Buena_Vista-Orlando_Florida.html

There are some really poor places for the money you are looking at, I once went as cheap as poss, paid £20/nt and ended up with cockroaches in my shoes one morning. Look very carefully when going cheap or spend a bit more and be sure of a better standard, for £300 you can get somewhere like Embassy suites or cypress pointe,

We really like the LBV location, so many places to eat and easy to get to all parks, you really need to do a lot of research when using budget hotels in Orlando, some are very rough.

I agree - there are some bargains to be had in Orlando, but there are also a heck of a lot of hotels which would be a mistake to book.

Read the reviews. Remember that the people writing the reviews paid what you are paying - so low price usually means low expectations. Then put those reviews in that context - it was cheap, they expected very little and STILL it gets poor reviews? Avoid, avoid, avoid.

(The same works the other way, btw - high prices means high expectations, so people can be overly-critical of expensive hotels).

I HAVENT BOOKED ANYTHING YET !!

my only reasoning with trying to stay under budget as we are going to be doing so many park hours we will hardly be in the room , so i did think it would be wiser to stay in better hotels or week 3 when we are planning on miami and the keys as we will be relaxing in the hotel etc ?

or do you think it would be better to do budget for road trip as we will only be in them for 1 or 2 nights at a time ??

the carion suites do look really nice and breakfast included will be a bonus , my kids demand food the moment there eyes open , and i think it will start the day slightly less stressd if they are fed and waterd before we leave
