off property vs. on property?

As a die hard offsite fan, I think the key is how many people are going and how much space do you want.
For just DH and me, onsite works.
Add a daughter, son, Daughter in law, grandson.... give us the 3 bed/3 bath condo.
With a larger family, the space is priceless.
Our gs can go to bed early while everyone else relaxes in the living room.
We can have breakfast as a family and not waste time in a restaurant.
For me, I love the washer/dryer and full kitchen, and really loved the 3 bathrooms. (we stayed at Lighthouse Key resort)
Like another poster said, it's what is a priority for you.

PS- this was dgs 1st Disney trip and we made our own "magic" by adding Disney soaps, facecloths, books, etc and daily gifts left by Tinkerbell. It isn't difficult to make the magic happen.

OK, I'm one of those people and I gotta say this is an intriguing thread. That condo complex looks awesome and something I will think about. For cost comparison it doesn't look all that much cheaper, though. I have the Wilderness Lodge booked (room only) with a 40% pin code in April right now. The Condo in the previous link is $134 a night plus the $80 cleaning fee plus parking at the parks, so let's say the cost is $160 a night. The WL will be $183/night.

So, all the "other stuff" aside like EMH and ME, etc is the extra space worth it over a Disney deluxe resort? I see it making sense over a value resort...
Generally the condos cost under 100 a night...that one seems priced high. :confused3 Many times the owner will negotiate rates or drop the cleaning fee if you stay there for over 1 week. Just go to windsorhillsrent.com and do and enquiry and you will get a full range of rates!:thumbsup2 Plus you save money by having your own food at the condo...don't have to pay for Disney food for meals and snacks everyday 3-5 times a day! You can also pack less as you can throw in a load of wash at night and have it dry while you're at the parks.

well, this is the one I was referring to:

Why would others be less unless they weren't as nice? The windosrhillrent.com site does not show you other condos rates. :confused3

And I am only comparing rates. All other stuff has to equal because if I say there is a better chance of a snowball landing in H E double hockey sticks than there is a chance of our family cooking or doing laundry while on vacation you'll say renting offsite is not for me...:rotfl:

We paid less than $90 a night to stay there in Nov. 2007! You will get replies from the enquiry form on the windsorhillsrent.com site via email and they have prices quoted in the emails from each individual owner. To each his own...we prefer to get some of our laundry done before we fly home...with 3 kids it's an awful large amount to wash after a 10 day trip if we wait til we get home. We only cook breakfast...my kids love waffles and pancakes and stuff before we hit the parks so we're rarin' to go at rope drop!

Well, now you are comparing apples to oranges. November at the WL with the PIN would be $144/night...That condo in November is now $99/night plus cleaning and parking you are looking at $125...about the same difference as April...

Onsite for me. Have stayed off site in a condo that was EXTREMELY nice and also hotels that were very nice and some not so nice. At this point, if I have to stay off site, especially for a long visit, then I would rather not go.

We never use Disney transportation, too much hassle, we take our car. I don't want to make breakfast or any other meal at the rented place, I am on vacation. Also if you are staying for longer periods, the condos don't get cleaned, sure you can pay to have them cleaned, other than that you do it yourself, and with 5 people showering everyday sometimes 2 times, it needs cleaning, and again, I am on vacation.

I have relatives that won't stay on site, to each their own, but I prefer it to off site. I just don't get the same Disney feeling, also hubby hates Orlando driving, would rather be in the park area itself.

Other places could be less b/c the owner bought it several years ago before the boom and subsequent bust.

I used vacationcentralflorida.com and everything was exactly as advertised. We were there last March during spring break for one week, and it was right around $100/night including fees, pool heat (we had a townhouse with it's own pool) and taxes.

Off site is for me! We are a family of 5 and the space for the price is incredible. We will go back to Windsor Hills every time now.
