Sadly I can't take pics. They don't allow it in the actual museum, I think because some of the women are topless.

Mom did take some pics of the canoes upstairs in the lobby though. I will get those this weekend.

I know when I took DS12 to the special exhibit from the Louve they would not allow us to take photos either... I was so bummed...

Sneak photos.. I got none..they had people (guards) stationed every 2 feet.. DS said they were all stationed to make sure the naked bodies didn't move!

What exactly is a Mashantucket museum? I am assuming something Indian???

The Mashantuckets and the Pequots are 2 tribes that joined together to get the numbers needed to get national recognition. I think, but I'm not 100% positive, that if they shared tribal lands they could combine tribes.
They opened Foxwoods Casino and then a few years later opened a museum about the local tribes and how they lived and traded with Settlers here in New England.

We also have the Mohegan tribe that opened Mohegan Sun Casino, my personal preference of the two.

it's nice to visit, especially since we are Lenape, part of the Deleware tribe.

I've definitely heard of the two casinos here on the DIS many times! It's neat to have a museum that helps children relate to their own culture when it's different from the norm.

yes it is. We have a lot of native children here and it's nice to see the heritage make a come back.
It does saddened me though that they put up casinos instead of using the land as their Ancestors intended, living like one with the Earth.
