adding extra days versus adding the park-hopper option on MYW tickets?

We don't currently have a trip planned (we had 8 days in WDW in Feb), so I am pathetically reduced to "planning" fantasy trips. While I was pricing out a 4 night trip for June, I noticed that for the 6 of us (4 adult prices, 2 kids) the ticketmania price for a basic 4-day tickets were $1086, while the basic + hopper were $1276. I also noticed that the basic 5-day tickets were only $1096.

This got me thinking - what would happen if we bought non-hopping tickets, and went to MK in the morning and tried to go to Epcot in the evening? Would we not be let in at all? or would we be charged for a second day? Could you enter a park 5 TIMES with a 5 day ticket, or does it have to be on 5 different DAYS?

Does anyone know? No flames please - but I am very curious.

There have been some discussions on this but I don't know that anyone has a valid response yet. (I heared at least tow differnt... Guest services told me stories so...) Wonder if anyone has done it?

Here's the rule as allearsnet.com explains it:

Am I allowed to use two days off of my MYW Base ticket (non-hopping) if I decide I want to go to a second park on the same day as the first?

No you are not. The tickets are sold and the computer system is based on the number of days you have, not the number of park visits. Once you have used a non-park hopping ticket at any park, the computer system will not let you use it at another park on the same day.

That's not to say that someone won't find a way around the rules, but getting caught could result in the ticket being completely voided, so it's probably not worth the risk......

I can tell you this came up in the Disney Travel Agent Training class. The answer was a definite no, if a guest wants to hop, they must buy a hopping ticket. Non-hopping tickets, even if guest is willing to "surrender" an extra day, will not be allowed.
