I am planning on taking my niece with us in Sept, but her parents can not commit right now. However, I am wanting to book our ADR's, so what happen's if she does not come? Will it be a problem if 5 instead of 6 people show up? I was thinking if I called to change the # of people I would lose my ressie, & may not be able to get another.

No it won't be a problem. With 5 people you would use up a table for 6 anyway. Not a big deal.

If you're just going to be one short in your party, you don't even need to change your reservations. Just let them know at the podium and it'll be cool beans. :earboy2:

Now I have tried to call & add one more to an existing ADR, & the cm said I had to re-book & they could not find me another ADR. So I think I would just ask at the podium. The CM I was talking to may have been wrong though.

We had to change our ressie number twice this trip. Once for Chef Mickey's we lowered it by two, because my younger son came down with a headache he just couldn't overcome by the time we had to leave, so he and DH stayed back. As my older son and I were on our way, we called the other family we were meeting and told them to let the CM know, which they did. We had 6:30 ADRs, and didn't get seated until 7:10 or so, but I can't say that the # change was the reason. (We were seated at a table for 6 rather than 8, though.)

Then, because of the younger one's unexpected night in, our evening plans for our last two nights changed. So, on our last night, DH and I ended up alone for our meal, while the boys played at Disney Quest. Again we showed up (Raglin Road) with two less, and had no problems at all.

Showing up with less people generally isn't a problem. If you come with more people though, you may wind up waiting for a while because they don't have enough seats for you.

Absolutely. Going up one can be an issue, going down one isn't.

It is bettter to do it that way and book that you may have one more then one less! Last year, I didn't think about it and left off our little one (lesss then a year) and they had a fit at most places beause she was stull an extra person!!

Like others have said this may be a problem. Tables are generally set up for 2,4 and 6. So if you have 3 and your son joins you it might not be a problem because you will sit at a table made for 4 anyway.

If you have 4 and are going up to 5 this could be a problem because you will need to sit at a table for 6 and there may not be any available. Same thing if you are a party of 2 going up to 3, you will then need a table that can seat 4.

So if you know he is coming then make the reservation for him.
