We have 3 - Cat 11 cabins booked (3 adults in each cabin)
It looks like 2 people may not go.

I am thinking, great then we can spread out between the 3 cabins then. Someone else in our party is thinking, great now we can get just 2 cabins and put 4 in one and 3 in another (to save a few bucks).

All we plan to do is shower, change clothes and sleep in our cabin. BUT I am thinking 184 sq ft. is not a lot of room for 4 people and the wall bed does not seem like the most comfortable for an adult. Anyone stay in Cat 11 with 4 adults that can give me some advise here or any adults out there that have slept on the wall bed - any thoughts??
Thanks.

Sorry...but I can't give you any advise on cat 11's...but I can say the wall bed really isn't that bad. IMO it's no worse than the queen bed.

Have you really looked into how much you'll really be saving? IMO...if your not saving a good deal...then keep the third room...but if you'll save ALOT then by all means save the money...and spend it else where on the ship. THere's a huge ship outside the room...and if your not planning on spending much time in the room in the first place...then why spend the extra money on the room.

For me the biggest factor would be just how much would be saved per person...not the lump amount saved..but after it's split..(I'm asuming the three adults are somehow spliting the rooms three ways...since the third+ person booked is at the discounted rate.) If I'm thinking of it the right way....you'll only be saving the discounted amount for the third and fouth person in those rooms.

The wall bed would not be the problem...it would be who is getting up into that top bunk to sleep! The wall bed to me was more comfortable than the two twins they push together and call a queen...those have a big uncomfortable lump in the middle where they push them together! But the wall bed was nice. There is a weight limit on the upper bunk, I can't recall what it was. Personally I think 4 adults in one Cat 11 room will be tight.

We have 4 adult sisters cruising in a Cat. 8. (Their 1st cruise, my 1st without DH and children). I volunteered to take the bunk (since I didn't get to try it on my family trips). Is their a weight limit for a bunk?

yes the top bunk has a weight limit. I think its around 200lbs or slightly over

I would tell the person who wants to go to just two rooms that they will have to sleep on the bunk. :)

Ditto!

For our wedding, we had four friends that shared a Category 11. They were fine, but they did not spend a lot of free time in their cabin.

TOO MUCH TIME WAITING FOR THE BATHROOM...

I say keep the 3 rooms...I am worrying that a Cat 11 won't have a lot of storage and could get tight feeling if someone snores...LOL

Along those lines: If you do decide to go with 2 rooms, I would seriously consider getting at least a cat 10, with the split bathroom, which could make a significant difference with 4 in the room.

Gosh - great advice DIS'ers I knew I could count on you for some good information. I think we are sticking with the 3 rooms. The savings isn't that great and I too was worried about the bathroom for 4 people.

You all are GREAT!! :cheer2:

I believe the weight limit for the bunk was 210 pounds.

Do keep in mind that the cat 11 has the single bathroom, not the split bath. That might make for cramped use in the morning. Also, depending on the time of year you are sailing, you may not save any $ by going to 2 rooms (if you are sailing low season with a good early booking discount.) We frequently sail off season for $749-799 each. The last time I looked, the extra adult fare in a cabin was $799. Again, price it out both ways.

We spend little time in the cabin....but 4 people in the single bath might be a pain.

Also, if you get one of the beds with the center ridge (we've had it once out of 12 cruises), first, talk to the room steward to be sure that the joiner piece is properly installed. Then, if you'd like, they can split the bed into two twin sized beds if you are more comfortable that way.
