I was so upset when I went there I wrote these words to the song American Pie:

My Tatooine Sky

A long, long time ago,
I can still remember how Mos Eisley used to make me smile

And I thought if Eiger had the chance
I could see those Ewoks dance
And maybe catch a transport to Naboo

But Disney’s version made Jar Jar shiver
With every promise undelivered
Bad news on the concept
Batuu’s not on a map yet

I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about Han’s widowed bride
Empty Black Spire left me inside
The day the movies died

So bye bye my Tatooine sky
Drove my speeder to see Greedo
But then Chewie said why?

And good ol Biggs was drinking blue milk and rye and singing
This will be the day that I die
This will be the day that we die

Did you see the base on Hoth?
And aren’t these the droids you’re looking for?
If Ben Kanobi tells me so

Now do you believe in the cannon of old?
And have you heard those stories three-pio told?
And can you show me how to find an early Episode?

Well I know that you’re in love with Ren
Cause I saw you killing off his kin
So they all ignored the past ...
Would’ve made this place a blast

Oh I was a nerdy teenage sci-fi nut
With a green lightsaber and a debt to Hutt
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the movies died

Refrain
And we were singing
Bye bye foggy Dagobah sky
Crashed my Xwing in the swamp-thing and then Yoda said why?

And good ol’ Ackbar was drinking winking his eye, and singing this will be the day that I die
This will be the day that we die

Oh in there they weren’t all in this place
A galaxy lost in space
Only to be lost again

So come on Jedi be nimble Jedi be quick
Jedi pull us a Jedi mind trick
Can you force ghost those legends back again

And as I watched Kylo on the stage
His robes were drenched in rich clichés
No hope of story to tell ...
Or to break his broken hell

And as my memories burned fast in to the past
Floating up like Vader’s ash
I heard Palpatine laughing like an *** ...
The day the movies died

Refrain
And they were singing
Bye bye busy Coruscant sky
Flew my xwing off to Bespin
But the clouds all went dry

Good ol Lando was plotting Siths on the fly
And singing this will be the day that I die
This will be the day that we die

I met a droid who bleeped the blues
And I asked it where were the bathrooms?
But it just twirled and whirled away

And I went down to the resistance store
Where I hoped to find Episode IV
But the spy there said those movies wouldn’t play

And in the streets the fans all screamed
The Jawas cried and the Wookiees dreamed
(They just wanted Leia’s theme)
But that’s all in the past now
No bringing back that cast now

And the three Jedi I admired most
Yoda Luke and Obiwan
Their memory’s just a fading ghost
The day the movies died

And we were singing
Bye bye my Tatooine sky
Road my Bantha to shoot Wampas
But then Watto said why?

And good ol Biggs was drinking blue milk and rye and singing this will be the day that we die

We were singing
Bye bye my Tatooine sky
Drove my speeder to see Greedo but then Watto said why?

And dark side Anakin was dreaming of Padmé on fire and singing
This will be the place that we die

I’m a bit of a purist.
I prefer the original version.
