odd ticket question-kind of long

Hi All. I have a ticket question that I am super confused on. We are going to Disney with our dance team mid to late June. DH and I decided to book separately from them because we wanted DDP (it saves a ton of money for our family because we do many character buffets) and the studio was only allowed to book hotel and tickets. After we'd already done this, we found out that each of our girls would have to have a "performers" ticket package to be able to dance in the parks. The packages are for 3 days of park hoppers, 2 water park and more, and include a separate Universal ticket because we're dancing there as well. DH wanted to go ahead and buy this package for all four of us because he was nervous that it would give the girls access to something we wouldn't have, and they are small, so we purchased one of these for all four of us. The cost was $340 per package. We only bought 7 day hoppers/water park and more with our MYW package, and we're staying 10 days so we figured we'd use these tickets the extra days.

Well now it turns out that the girls are dancing at DownTown Disney. When I brought up to our director that you don't need a ticket to access DTD, she said the her Disney rep had told her nobody can perform without the "performers" ticket package. Based on the schedule DH and I have made for our trip, we will not really need these three days, our 7 day tix will do us just fine.

Right now only my MYW tickets are linked to our magic bands. We received the dance tickets last week, and they are hard tickets with pics of Minnie and Mickey on them. The green ones that I think might look like APs? They have on the back that they are 3 day PH and 2 day WP&M.

Here is my question. If I do not use these tickets at all, do they expire? There is no expiration date on them. I know once you use a ticket you have like 14 days to use it up, but if they are never swiped at all does that same rule still apply? Or could I feasibly hold on to them to use on a future trip? Can I sell them if not? I don't believe they are yet linked to our names in any way, the studio was just sent a bunch of tickets and you had to initial for the ticket number you received. I feel a bit sick to my stomach that we spent so much money on these and there may be nothing I can do with them.

I'm not sure of the expiration issue, bu I have empathy for you. These performing/sports tickets are just awful.

But did you at least get a great deal on the room?

1, Very likely, yes.
2. No. If you don't use them, they don't expire in 14 days, but they very likely DO have an expiration date of some kind.
3. Depends when (if) the tickets expire and on when is your next trip.
4. Unused tickets can be "transferred." But, at this point you don't know anything about these tickets. Hard to sell unless you know.
5. Yup.

Thank you both for replying. We didn't book our room through the studio, but they weren't even getting a discount on the room that I could see. They had Caribbean Beach listed for $210/night and I think in our package it was actually $196 (we are still staying at that resort even though we booked separate).

Is there somewhere I can go on property to find out about the expiration? I wonder if I could turn them into APs or how much that would cost. Right now we were only planning on going back in two years, but if we "had" to use these tickets up DH might could be coerced...hmm.

Would you be able to use the tickets you bought from the performance package (would you be able to upgrade these at all for the # of days you really want?) for your trip and save your MYW package tickets for a future trip?

It must feel frustrating to think you could be wasting so much money.

Can you down grade your package to fewer days? or upgrade your MYW package tickets into the AP tickets.
Consider switching to a room only discount and paying OOP for dining (check one of the calculators to see it it will work out better for you.
Most performance tickets are good for a certain window, they usually can NOT be upgraded or changed.

With your girls having to have performer tickets you kind of have your hands tied. And since you cant return those you have to make changes to your MYW package or eat the cost of the dancer tickets

I don't think I can add extra days to the performers tickets. I'm not sure about upgrading out package to APs. Is there a way I can figure out how much that could cost, or get a good estimate? We've already booked out FP+ and I got A&E and some other harder ones at good times. I'm terrified of messing those up.

If you can't add extra days to the performer tickets, would what you have now be enough for you? 3 park days + 2 wp days + universal tix? I know it doesn't sound too much for 10 day trip, but you could do more resort time. That way you can save your package tickets for a future trip (or sell them).

unfortunately, no. :( we'll be in the parks 7 days (one just for a special father's day dinner after a water park) 2 water park days, and then we have one rest day set aside in the middle. we'll probably only use the universal ticket to dance, because there isn't a ton my kids can do there. They are only 6 and 7 and pretty short.

thank you all for talking through this with me.
