Odd things you've overheard in the parks

As a cast member at MGM (yes, it was that long ago :( ) I heard loads of odd things!

Them: "Is the Great Movie Ride a movie?"
Me: "No, it's a slow moving ride that goes through scenes of some of the greatest movies"
Them: "so it's a movie then?"
Me: "No, it's a ride"
Them: "So what time should I be back for them movie?"
Me: "It's a continuously moving RIDE, you can go in now to RIDE it. It's not a movie"
Them: "Ok, I'll be back at (x-time) for the movie"
Me: "Ok, whatever."

Also, we had people ask where the Hulk ride was - we would give them directions to Uni all the time!

Two favorites:

I did have a person ask me where Cinderella's Castle was. I had my back facing the castle, and they were looking DIRECTLY at it.

I also saw a little girl in the Emporium dressed to the nines in princess gear. I overheard her complaining to her father about the cm's calling her a princess.
Her: "Daddy, why do they keep calling me princess? Make them stop!"
We were laughing at that one!

DH went on EE via the single rider line on our last trip (DD and I don't like EE). He was seated in the back row. The guy he sat next to reeked of alcohol.

First thing the guy said is I've been on this ride 4 times in a row.

Next thing he said (as the train started to move"

"I think I'm going to be sick"

fortunately he wasn't - poor dh really did sweat it out on that ride thinking the guy would puke and it would be all over him.

After the ride stopped - the guy said "I'm going around again".....

Last year in line to see Aladdin & Jasmine in Morocco, the mom in front of me was telling her kids that when she was younger, there was a "passageway" between MK and EC and you could just walk through the gates between parks and be from one to another within minutes. She said she was so sad when they closed that gate, because it made it so convenient.

This was a very cute, dad moment. I was headed into MK one morning after Ohana breakfast to rude Peter Pan really quickly before meeting my friends at Animal Kingdom. (I hadn't ridden PP in years, and this was trip number 3 that year! I was not going to miss it again! Lol)
Anyway, I was moving quickly up Main Street and was about to pass a man pushing a double stroller. He had two cute little girls, and it was early their first time. He was so excited, and as the castle can't into view he said, look girls!!! Snow Whites Castle!"
It made me smile all day! I slowed long enough to whisper, Cinderella's! And give him a big smile!

While waiting for the next show at the Hall of Presidents, a lady told her grandson that they were going to see a show that had wax figures that move. ;) Sandy
Isn't that basically what it is? (I haven't been to Hall of Presidents yet. lol)

Wow. That might've been funny only if the guy was joking.

Overheard at Animal Kingdom:

Scene: walking on one of the paths towards Expedition Everest. Coming towards us is a lady with a young child in a stroller. Child is recovering from a pretty impressive crying spell, but has begun to smile at all the awesomeness surrounding her.

Exasperated Mom: "See? I TOLD you that Disney is a lot of fun, once you stop screaming."

My guy & I laughed for hours on that one. My heart goes out to parents sometimes!

Outside of Tower of Terror:

"That's where they filmed Psycho."

Just in general:

"Oh, I'm definitely going to buy one of those fastpasses."

While riding the bus to Blizzard Beach one morning, I overheard a mom tell her son (probably 12-ish?) as Summit Plummet came into view that that slide is the only "launching slide in the world" and it launches you into a deep pool of water. I was laughing so hard with my friend that I couldn't even correct her without coming across as a jerk. So I let it be....I always wondered how disappointed (or relieved!) that kid was when he realized that wasn't the case! :lmao:

My favorite: In line for Buzz, lady complaining about the weather: (it really wasn't that hot): "Disney better do something about this weather if they expect people to come year round!" And I always love the the people who think FP is only something you can use if you stay at a Disney resort! Cracks me up every time I hear it!

I work MK and believe it or not, we get that a lot.

Last couple of weeks:

1. Where is Fantasy Island
2. How to get to Magic Mountain
3. Where can I get on the "Unirail"
4. Where to get "smokey legs" (turkey legs)

Couple of years ago, guest wanted to know where to get the boat to go from MK to Epcot. Told him no boats to Epcot. He was insistent that his cousin had taken one before. Told him not possible, the waterways didn't connect, then told him he must be talking about Hollywood Studios to Epcot. Said I must be knew and just didn't know where things were yet.

As I sometimes tell my wife, we just can't make this stuff up.

We got on the Friendship at the Boardwalk to go to Epcot and a woman asked the captain which stop Universal Studios was!!! When he explained it was not part of Disney she disagreed with him and said she was told that you could take the boat there because all the waterways were interconnected!!
I can't believe people go on vacation and don't research things before they go!

I've seen people frustrated at CM who would not explain to them how to WWoHP from MSUSA because the person KNEW it was part of the MAGIC kingdom.

Also have heard people trying to figure out which Disney bus takes them to the Universal Hollywood Studios for the real rides, like spiderman and hulk.

The day after my latest birthday we went to MK BIG mistake I think the crowd was at a level 10 and every CS had at least a thirty min line when we finally got to one my DBF would eat at I was extremely HANGRY (hungry-angry) to the point where I exclaimed if we didn't eat there I was going to trap a slow moving seagull and make a new version of turkey leg! Well a mother of four looked at me and said to my surprise and said "Let's get 5! With your birthday button and my anniversary button were unstoppable!" I almost died laughing

:rotfl:You laugh, but this is something that would come out of my mothers mouth:rolleyes1 She thinks all the theme parks in the Orlando area are walking distance from eachother~~I tell her all the time "Listen crazylady, BIG parks--DIFFERENT parks--BIG area!!" sigh:dance3:

After coming out of the American Adventure one time there was this guy who seemed intent on having a conversation on how much better the world would be today if the South had won the Civil War......

What amazes me that not only do people not bother to research a bit of information but they seem to know everything! Love this thread

As heard in the waiting area for the TTC ferry:

Child in expensive Princess dress: "MOMMY PEE PEE SO BAD!!"
Mother (to child): "If you pee yourself in that dress I will kill you."
Mother (to husband/boyfriend): "We paid way too much for that for her to piss on it." :scared1:

I also overheard a man telling an older couple all about the PeopleMover and how awesome it was--we were near the FP+ kiosks at the Monster's Inc show--who then proceeded to point them towards Tomorrowland Terrace to find it. I was THIS close to saying something, but I didn't.

All the transportation ones remind me of another, heard a guy on a bus tell his wife how great the "Ski lift chair ride was to take you from Magic Kingdom to Epcot when I was a kid"
