Odd question

Are the vanities at the deluxe resorts inside the bathroom area where the door can be shut? We've only stayed at value or moderate resorts. At the values the vanity area was outside of the room where I woke up the whole family trying to get ready in the morning. At the moderate, it was slightly better because the curtain blocked off some of the light. I'm wondering if the vanity area at the deluxe resorts are entirely where I can shut the door and keep from having the light and noise from my blow dryer wake everyone up. Thanks!

Not an odd question, totally understandable, but I do not think they are all the same. I KNOW at the Contemporary they are in the bathroom, behind the door, because I stayed there last year. I would recommend going to the Disney website and looking at the floor plan of the room you are going to be staying in. HTH

Thanks for not laughing at my question. I did look at the WDW website, but it didn't provide a clear enough angle to determine where the vanity/sink area is located. I did a google search and finally found something. It seems like it's "tucked" into a small wall partition area. Not inside the rest of the bathroom, but in an area that would have less light to wake up my family.

At AKL, in our room the vanity area was outside of the bathroom, but was not facing into the room. so when you walked in the door, the closets were on the right, and the bathroom was on the left, with the bathroom door facing toward the balcony of our room, opening into the vanity area. There was a wall on the other side of the sinks, opposite the bathroom door, to close off the space somewhat. the sinks ran parallel to the closets.

at the Poly, the vanity area is inside of the bathroom, and i believe this is the same for the contemporary.

for the record, at Coronado Springs in the ranchos section, there are actually pocket doors that slide across and close off the vanity area, which was probably the absolute best of any of the resorts we've stayed at in terms of having people get ready at different times without disrupting anyone else.

Do you have a specific deluxe in mind? or are you asking in general?

Our preferred deluxe is the AKL (with a visit or two to WL)
and both of those have the vanity areas OUTSIDE the bathroom. There is a main wall between the sleeping area and vanity area, but it is 'open' facing the entry area.

See here for a floorplan of a 'typical' room at the GF

see here for a floorplan of a room at the WL (AKL is almost identical)

see here for an actual room photo at the beach club (same basic floor plan as the GF, AKL and WL, but an actual photo, not a floorplan.

the vanity area is behind the wall with the photo, it is open, but the light from the vanity area would not be shining directly into the sleeping areas

here is a floorplan for the contemporary (which is vastly different from the above mentioned places

Here is the floorplan for the poly (more similar to the CR)

I couldn't find a floorplan for BW, but from the descriptions, it sounds exactly l like the floorplan from the beach club.

I don't have a picture to post, but when we stayed at Coronado Springs, the vanity area, while being outside the bathroom area, had sliding wooden doors, instead of just a curtain, which allowed for more privacy, and blocked the vanity lighting so someone getting up early could get ready without worrying about waking anyone.

you're welcome - i think the trend is to have the vanity area separate from the bathroom so multiple people can get ready at once. in the older deluxe resorts, the vanity is contained in the bathroom, while in the newer ones i believe it's outside. in the deluxe resorts, they do tend to position the vanity areas to face the closet, and not directly into the rooms.

if you check out the accomodations section of www.allears.net, they have pictures of standard rooms, which should help you get an idea of how they're set up, as they have multiple pictures of the rooms for each resort. may help you answer your question visually :)

At both the Yacht and Beach Club the vanity area is just outside the bathroom in a small alcove that is separated by a wall from the rest of the room. I believe the vanity area in the Poly longhouses varies. I do know that the vanity is inside the bathroom in the rooms in the Hawaii longhouse (Club Level longhouse). I'm pretty sure I've seen pictures of rooms in some of the other longhouses where the vanity was outside the bathroom in a small alcove like at Yacht and Beach.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the detailed info and the links to view pics. I didn't realize the floor plans would all be substantially different. I figured all the deluxes would all have a very similar, if not the very same, design. My ignorance. I guess it would help to have named the specific resort I was looking into (AKL) but everyone gave me enough info here to answer my question. Thanks!

BWI has double sinks and big mirror separate from the commode and shower/tub room. Very handy indeed!:wizard:
