Odd question... anyone ever hire a Steel Drum Band?

We are probably going to host a 4th of July party and I'm looking for something "fun". I have always loved Steel Drums and came across a band who plays private parties. Has anyone ever done something like this? Just curious about experiences (and costs ).

ok honestly, no i've never hired a drum band, but i have hired several regular bands,


ussually pay in the nieghbor hood of 100 bucks a band member,

Not exactly, but....

I was part of a convention a few years ago where, prior to the opening ceremonies, we showcased a high school steel drum band to entertain people as they were entering the auditorium. During the planning I had my doubts about it, but in the end, the band was great, it was something out of the ordinary, the crowd loved it, and it turned out to be a real success.

The kids played for a small honorarium, so I have no idea about the real cost of doing something like this.

I think it's a great idea. Sounds like a lot of fun for a party. Best of luck!
