Hi all.

Flying down on Saturday to orlando. Initially, I had planned on taking ME to All Star Movies. However, my friend decided to rent a car and drive to the resort. I was curious, if I put my ME tags on my luggage, would they take my bags to the resort even if I wasn't on the bus?

Nope. In order for your bags to be released from the luggage area, you need to check-in with the DME desk at MCO. THen the bus driver scans your stamped voucher when you board the bus. If the computer doesn't show you as checked in they won't release your luggage and it will stay at MCO until you do check-in.

I am going with 5 other people, they will be taking the DME bus. I am renting a car. So if I take care of my luggage myself is it going to be a problem if I don't ride the bus with them?

Each DME tag has 2 names on it, the name the reservation is in, and the name of the individual. In my case, my name was on my tags twice. For my wife, there was my name and then her name on her tags, etc. Given this information, it stands to reason that if YOU don't show up on the DME bus it won't affect the luggage of OTHERS, KWIM? There's no rule that an entire party must use DME or else no one can use it.

Here's an idea to make things even easier for you. Each person gets 2 DME tags (because each person is allowed 2 checked bags on most airlines), right? It's unlikely each of the other 5 people is going to use both tags, so here's my idea: DME-tag your own suitcase(s) with one of your travel partners' DME tags, and your suitcase(s) will magically appear in that person's resort room because as far as DME knows the bag is that person's and not yours, and since that person is on the bus it's all kosher. You're not actually "getting away" with anything because each person, after all, is entitled to 2 bags being transferred as part of DME. I hope this all made sense. ENJOY!

Thanks Cleverocks, thats what I was thinking I would do with one piece of my luggage and just carry on the other one.I was just a little worried that since I'm the one who made the reservation and my name is on all the luggage tags that there would be a problem if I wasn't going on the bus. Maybe I could just go to the DME desk and explain my situation. I'm sure others have rented cars at MCO and the rest of there party took the bus.
