My daughter is traveling to WDW with her High School band and will be marching on Main Street which she is very excited about.

We are going separately and staying onsite, so we got new Magicbands etc... Her school is providing the tickets and staying offsite. We just got her ticket, and I added it to our MDE account and it shows up just fine.

We have many extra magic bands from previous trips, can I add her ticket to one of her old Magicbands?

Her new ticket is in MDE, but I don't see a way to link it to a magic band.

The way I understand it, if the magic band was assigned to her, and her ticket is linked to her in her MDX, then the MB should work without any other steps.

The MB itself doesn't store any information, it is just a link to the MDX account.

The MagicBand that is linked to her provides the link to her ticket and FPs when she is at the entrance and FP tapstiles. As long as her name in MDE has the ticket and MagicBand info, she is good to go.

Hmmm.... When I look at her account in MDE, it shows several magicbands from previous trips, and this new ticket I just added. The ticket doesn't associate itself with all of the magicbands, as I understand it. I think there should be a way to associate this ticket to a particular magicband, if that's something that's supported. I'm just trying t avoid her having to carry a ticket around when she can just use one of her previously used magicbands.

Her ticket will be linked to every magic band assigned to her in MDE. You can wear different bands daily if you wish. The bands don't hold individual info, they just unlock the info stored in mde.

So any magic band ever linked to her mde will now be able to use whatever ticket she has linked in her account. You just link the ticket to the mde account, not to a specific magic band

Remember, as others have said, the MB itself does not load info from a specific ticket, it is just a link to the MDX account. So if she has an active, valid ticket, any of her MB will work.

Question....If I get free tickets for the parks from a friend, and I'm staying free at a DVC Resort, how would I go about getting a Magic Bands for two people? Also, is it possible to book fast passes without having an "actual" ticket bought? My date to book Fast Passes is just a few days away.

youwould have to buy magic bands in the parks i believe, but could be wrong. you have to have a valid ticket to book FP+

Our reservation at the DVC Resort is in our name, not the DVC owners name. So when the resort sent us our confirmation, it listed the important dates we should look for and one of the dates says to book your Fast Passes. So...I def. need to know because I don't have the free tickets yet and may not get them for a few weeks from the person giving them to me.

Valid tickets, whether purchased or free, have to be linked to you in your MDE account. As soon as tickets are linked a 30-day FP window opens up.

If you have an onsite resort stay linked to your MDE, the 30-day window converts to a full 60-days at your 60 day mark in regards to your onsite check-in day.

Ok....thanks for the help. I thought of other questions. The day to begin selecting FastPasses for us is March 27. So if I don't have a tickets bought by that date, I cannot go ahead and book FP's correct? Also, can you book FP's after your 60 date? If we don't get our free tickets until closer to our leaving date and they are the hard plastic tickets, I can exchange the tix for MagicBands at the park TTC, correct and then would need to go to the FP kiosk to try to get them, correct?

If you have an on site reservation you will get magic bands. You can't trade in your passes for magic bands. If you want you can buy magic bands, but the hard tickets can be used for making fast passes at the kiosks. They have the same chip in them that the bands have.

3. If we don't get our free tickets until closer to our leaving date and they are the hard plastic tickets, I can exchange the tix for MagicBands at the park TTC, correct and then would need to go to the FP kiosk to try to get them, correct?

1. Correct.

2. Yes.

3. You don't exchange tickets for Magic Bands. If you got a confirmation regarding your reservation, then you should also get information regarding ordering Magic Bands, which would then get mailed to you.

NJDFAMILY....Sorry for all the questions. Last time we were there (Sept. 2013) they still had the FP machines so it was easier. I do have a reservation at Wilderness Lodge in our names but it's a gift from a DVC member. Are you saying that since we have this reservation that we will get MagicBands? Also, as I mentioned I don't have actual tickets for the parks as of now. A friend is giving us a freebie. So if I understand correctly I cannot book FP'S unless I have tickets bought?

You must have tickets to use FP. See the green link in my signature for answers to many FP FAQs.
