Odd Magical Express and EMH question

Hi there,

DH and I are heading to WDW next month. Our flight back is at 6:00 am, so Magical Express would pick us up around 3:00 am. Since MK is open until 2:00 am, we're thinking we might as well do that and then head back to the resort to pick up ME. That got me thinking -- is it possible to check out of a resort on 5/20, but take ME at 3:00 am 5/21? We'd rather not pay the extra room night if we didn't have to, considering we won't be using it. When we had this flight back in December, we kept the room for the last night and it seemed like a bit of a waste of money.

I suppose the other option would be to just take regular Mears or a taxi if this falls outside of ME guidelines?

You are considered a resort guest until midnight on your checkout day. You would not be able to take DME the following day. DME doesn't follow an EMH schedule.

You could take Magical Express back to the airport earlier in the evening and stay at a motel near the airport and then catch your 6 AM flight.

Yes you can get your bags from the concierge after you get back from post-midnight EMH for check out day. Those who drove may leave their car at their resort and come back after EMH ends and then load up and head for home, although it would be quicker to load up the car on checkout morning, drive to the park, and go home directly from the park.

If luggage services is open/available during the middle of the night AND you can get a ME out at 3am, I still would not leave the park at 2am because that's when everyone else staying for EMH will be exiting and trying to board the buses. What if you don't get back to the resort by 3am? (that is under the assumption you can book ME for that time)

If ME not an option, see if Mears schedules for 3am? Their one way tix to the airport is about $20person so they'd be cheapest option, but like ME, you're stuck with the time they give you.

It's more expensive but a using a cab, you could schedule them to pick you up at a MK resort (unless you're staying at one) then drive over to your home resort to p/u luggage and then to airport. Or perhaps a towncar service would do this as well. Plus you get to pick the time you want them to arrive. This would still be cheaper than paying another night room at WDW or the airport but you're going to be so tired when you get home! Good luck :cutie:
