Okay, for something I'm doing for our possible January 2012 trip, I am trying to come up with noticeable "landmarks" that are visible from I-75. We have pretty much a straight shot from around Lima, OH down to Fla.

Used to be the "big butter Jesus", but He burned down. I know the Florence, KY water tower and the horse/cowboy statues by the flea market in OH, and the airplane decorated walls outside of Dayton.

What else is there that we can look for? Anyone know of anything? Thanks!

The Olympic torch in Altanta.
A giant Peach
A giant peanut
Large statue of Jesus with his arms lifted up.

Sorry I don't remember the states.

ETA: There is the bridge crossing into Ky. As you are crossing, on the hillside there is a silver house that sort looks like a spaceship ( when the foliage is right)

South of Macon, there is a rocket on the side of the hwy. The many, many billboards for Magnolia Plantation through middle and south GA. The Suwanee River in N FL (we always sing "Way down upon the Suwannnnneeeeee River" when we pass by).

Cafe' Risque'

I get so tired of reading their "We bare all" signs. Could you even imagine trying to have s meal while they "bare all"?

About 16 yrs ago There was a 30 ft sign that said...Buck Naked exit now. It was florescent yellow.

when we drive south I buy Dave Hunters Along I-75. It has fantastic trivia info!

I just wanted to say hi! We drive straight down I-75 from Lima, too -- we take the backroads down from NW Ohio (close to the Michigan border) and hit I-75 at Bluelick Road.

Since we leave around 1:00 a.m, and I drive until everyone wakes up, I'm the only one who sees the butter Jesus (I hope they rebuild that), the Ohio river, and everything else all the way through to the Tennessee border!

We used to laugh at them and comment- "Truckers welcome!" "Free showers!" "Couples welcome!"

Can you imagine taking a shower there? eeeewww... :rotfl:

In downtown Atlanta, be sure to stop at the Varsity for a chili dog, onion rings and Coke. Yum!! A historic landmark for sure!

Wow, I can't compete with Big Butter Jesus but there are several obnoxiously huge confederate flags flying just off I-75 in south Ga.
