I am surprised that the 8 and 6 yr olds are not embarassed to ask for mommy's "ninnys" in front of people. I would think the horrified reaction they would get from others would be enough to make them stop.
I wonder if their pediatrician is aware of this behavior. I'm thinking the doctor would have something to say about this situation. I would be very concerned about the potential for psychological damage to these children. What if word gets out to their friends and classmates?
At the very least there are issues with needing to be "comforted" way past the age it should be needed. It would be like an 8year old walking around with a pacifier in his mouth. Or even a 4 year old with a paci.
