I have been looking at the prices doing a DIY, and found that Octopus Travel have decent prices for staying at Disney hotels.

However, if you book a hotel through somebody like Octopus, can you book Disney Dining Plan, and if so how and who from?

Also anybody had any experience of using Octopus? I reckon I can save £400 on a trip to POP by using them, but I am wary of these smaller outfits.

As far as I know DDP is only available booking direct with Disney or a few select agents, I doubt Octopus Travel are included.

Personally I would not pay for DDP, its great free but there is no way we would get value from it by paying.
Are you having a car? if every meal will be onsite then possibly worth it but we prefer to eat at so many offsite restaurants it certainly wouldn't be for us.

Octopus are doing some great prices on Disney resorts just now, especially with Quidco cashback as well.

Not sure about them being a smaller outfit, they were bought out in 2005 for USD$1.1b cash http://www.ameinfo.com/51802.html

Not sure if Cendant still own without more reading but they are a massive company.
Ok I am intersted I looked more:lmao: reads as though they split the company and its now under the Travelport umberella (own 48% of Orbitz) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travelport

Thanks Wayne, I suspected as much, but couldn't be sure. One of my next questions was going to be whether the DDP was really worth it, and you've answered that question too!

I can see us eating a lot off-site - one of the highlights of the last trip to WDW was the breakfast every morning in Dennys on the way to the parks (I just love their pancakes, sausages and eggs with maple syrup - started off the trip with the 3 of everything choice, and by the end of the fortnight had been well and truly 'Americanised' to the 5 of everything platter!). :rotfl:

DDP is also not great if you like your breakfasts, for a proper breakfast you have to use a TS credit, this will give you a value of approx $20 compared to an evening meal usually $30-40. you can use CS credits for breakfast but more limited choice.
As I said with a car I would get offsite to eat, Cheesecake factory, Orlando Alehouse, Mimis Cafe + loads more cost upto half onsite eateries. We really miss these when doing DDP but free DDP keeps attracting us.:goodvibes

Although we did the frr DDP when we stayed at SSR we got a cab down hotel boulevard and ate at shoneys. Cab was $7 and the food was $13 +tip as dd ate free.Good vaule loads of food and saved us a combi:thumbsup2
